EVENING DIALOG OF RRI On the Special Feature of UTM (Talent-Based Student Admission) of IPB

News

Based on  Permendiknas (Ministerial Regulation of National Education) No. 34/2010, each State Higher Education under the Ministry of National Education is required to receive 60% of students through the National Entrance Test for State Universities (SNMPTN) and 40% for the maximum through an independent selection. Bogor Agricultural University takes 63% through the SNMPTN invitation, 20% through the written exam, from 10 to 12% by UTM (Talent-Based Student Admission), and the rest through BUD (Regional Representatives Scholarship) and the National/International achievement-Based Selection, according to Prof. Dr. Ir. Yonny Koesmaryono, MS., Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs in the Evening Dialogue, Tuesday, July 5, 2011, when answering questions about the new student admission to IPB.

The Talent-Based Student Admission (UTM) at IPB is now entering the third year. So far its academic outputs have been satisfactory – no drop-out students and even some have the GPA (grade point average) of 4.0. UTM is an independent talent-based entrance test involving the skills of leadership, entrepreneurship and interest in agriculture, with which it is expected that after graduation, the graduates would be able to become leaders though as entrepreneurs in agriculture, he explained. The special characteristic of UTM is that in the third semester the students accepted by such an admission will be equipped with leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) belongs to the nation or all people; not only to the people of Bogor and the rich people. IPB recruits the best students or citizens from rural regions of Indonesia by providing a lot of opportunities to obtain appropriate and equitable education so the nation-building of Indonesia can move forward with quality human resources.
