700 Athletes of Table Tennis throughout Indonesia in Championship in IPB
A total of 700 table tennis athletes from various Indonesian Table Tennis Associations (PTMSI), 26 colleges, and from Russia, participated in the event (2-5/6) in Dramaga Campus IPB, Bogor.
Table Tennis Tournament of All Indonesia in Bogor, the 5th Series 5 with the theme "Spirit of the Nation’s Child Towards Excellent Achievements," was opened by the Vice Rector for Business and Communications, Dr. Arif Imam Suroso, accompanied by Brance Management of PTMASI Bogor Subono Widoyoko, Head of IPB Arts and Sports Unit Prof. Dr. Khaswar Syamsu, and Coach of Student Activity Unit for Table Tennis IPB Dr. Irzaman.
This tournament held competitions for Single Male Students, Single Woman Students, Mixed Male Students, General Single Males, General Single Women, Non-PONs, Executives, Veterans, Male Beginners, Female Beginner and Juniors.
Some colleges taking part in the competitions include University of Indonesia, Padjadjaran University of Bandung, Bandung Institute of Technology, University of Brawijaya, University of Semarang, University of Ten November Surabaya, Christian University of Indonesia, University of Gunadharma, etc.
Several national athletes were seen to take part in this tournament among others, Muhammad Hussein, Fiki Supit Gilang and so forth. Meanwhile, the Russian athlete Evgeny played in the beginner competitions.
This Tournament, which is the result of the cooperation between IPB and PTMSI of Bogor, is to win the Rector Cup of IPB and Bogor Mayor Cup.
"I expect from such competitions that in the next ten years there will be Indonesian athletes who can won national, Asian and the world championship," said Vice Rector for Business Affairs and Communications, Dr. Imam, in his speech.
He is grateful as, of the five tournaments in Bogor, IPB have been appointed twice to organize this tournament.
"IPB give a lot of encouragement to its community members to improve health and fitness in order to reach the world and the hereafter achievement. We also should be proud because IPB is one of the universities in Indonesia which receive the Award of Prime Sports Campus, and for this IPB have been elected twice to hold this table tennis tournament,” he said.
