IPB University and the Ministry of Cooperatives are promoting the strengthening of the village business ecosystem through the synergy between the One Village One CEO (OVOC) programme and the Merah Putih Village/Sub District Cooperative (KDKMP).

This collaboration is aimed at strengthening the development of the business ecosystem and cooperative institutions in villages. It encourages villages to not only be objects of development, but also the main subjects driving the local economy.

‘The collaboration between OVOC and KDKMP is expected to become a multisectoral collaboration in developing a village business ecosystem based on superior products in each region,’ said the Chairman of the Institute for Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration at IPB University, Dr Handian Purwawangsa.

This meeting, he said, is the starting point in efforts to optimise local resources that are much stronger, more sustainable, and more impactful.

The OVOC programme presents an approach to developing village economic leadership through training and mentoring involving lecturers and students from IPB University. This approach is designed to optimise the potential of villages in a structured and market oriented manner, thereby creating economic added value for the local community.

Meanwhile, KDKMP is positioned as a community economic institutional force that plays a role in building an inclusive and sustainable collective business system.

Also present were the Assistant Deputy for Creative Economy and Entrepreneurship Development and representatives of the Director of Primary Product Export Development, Ministry of Trade. Both expressed their readiness to provide support in accordance with the specified areas.

A number of strategic agendas were formulated, including synchronising the roles of OVOC and KDKMP in the village business ecosystem, developing a pilot model for collaboration in priority villages, preparing a medium and long-term collaboration roadmap, and strengthening multi stakeholder partnerships involving universities, government, the business world, and communities.

Destry Anna Sari, Deputy for Talent Development and Cooperative Competitiveness, Ministry of Cooperatives, said that KDKMP is not just a business institution. Its existence is important to integrate the supply chain process in a business ecosystem from upstream to downstream.

This meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to not only develop programmes but also build a national movement and a structured, measurable, and sustainable village empowerment system to promote the economic independence of rural communities. (*/Rz) (IAAS/LAN)
