Tips for Success as an IPB University Student Dormitory Resident
Being a dormitory resident is not just about living on campus, but also about building character and strong leadership skills. This was conveyed by Dr Suratni, Chairperson of the IPB University Student Dormitory Management Unit (UPAMI).
To become a successful dormitory resident, Dr Suratni emphasized the importance of embodying the three values in IPB University’s tagline: inspiration, innovation, and integrity in dormitory life.
According to her, the value of innovation encourages students to always think creatively and come up with new solutions in facing daily challenges.
“One concrete example is the initiative to develop activities or clubs that can strengthen personal development and foster camaraderie among dormitory residents,” she said.
She added that the value of integrity serves as the foundation for living together in the dormitory. Honesty and a sense of responsibility help students manage their emotions, resolve conflicts effectively, and adapt to new environments.
“This attitude is very important for maintaining discipline and building trust among fellow dormitory residents,” she explained.
The value of inspiration emerges when students have successfully navigated the adaptation period. Dormitory residents are expected to become role models who can motivate and strengthen their peers.
“The spirit of sharing and supporting one another is the key to building a solid, positive, and productive dormitory community,” she said.
In addition, Dr Suratni added that UPAMI continues to strive to provide supporting facilities and programs to help students develop these three values. These range from leadership training, creative workshops, to social activities involving all dormitory residents.
“By internalizing these three values, IPB University dormitory residents will not only succeed academically, but also grow into innovative, responsible, and inspiring future leaders,” emphasized Dr Suratni.
As part of the campus community, dormitory residents are expected to become agents of change who bring positive impacts not only for themselves but also for their surroundings and the broader community. (AS) (IAAS/Ard)
