LKST IPB University Encourages Student Entrepreneurship through the Inspiration of Seven Alumni

IPB University’s Science and Technology Area Institute (LKST) continues to encourage students’ entrepreneurial spirit. One of the efforts is to present seven successful alumni to share their knowledge and experience in undergoing a career as an entrepreneur.
In the event entitled “The Role of Science Techno Park (STP) to Build Entrepreneurial and Business Ecosystem of IPB University”, Chairman of LKST Prof Erika B Laconi said, STP is a place to actualize between science and life activities in the future. The event was attended by the management of Ormawa IPB University.
“IPB University dedicates this Taman Kencana to be a science and technology area. Students, STP is your home. Please come and utilize the existing ecosystem,” she said.
Founder and President Director of Panca Agri Group as well as alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) IPB University, Octen Suhadi was present to share his success story in developing a business. He shared tips on how to build a wise and sensible business.
“The approach must be careful, meticulous, and consider various factors before making business decisions. In addition, the approach must be rational, logical, and in accordance with the situation,” he said during the Talkshow session “Start Young, Start Smart: Building Startups Early with the Support of Entrepreneurial and Business Ecosystem” (5/18).
In the event held at the Startup Center Building Campus, IPB Campus Taman Kencana, Bogor, Octen who is also the Chairman of the Alumni Family Association (IKA) Faperta IPB University said, “Great youth are those who struggle hard to be successful since young, because he does not want his children and wife to live in difficulties someday.”
Another successful alumni, Ridwan Herdian, CEO of PT Bens Farm. “Our business is motivated by low meat consumption and to support the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. Bens Farm was established in 2013 and focuses on sheep with the vision of ‘One-Stop Sheep Solution’.”
Currently, Bens Farm has products and services, including Bens Sheeps (live sheep and partnerships), Bens Meat (fresh carcasses and meat), Bens Qurban (sacrificial animals); and Bens Aqiqah (akikah services).
“We also provide practical sacrificial animal procurement services to consumers with quality animals. In 2024, the number of sheep production in the Bogor area reached 530.071 heads with a total turnover of 24 billion rupiah,” he said.
Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, also conveyed a message to the students. “First, be brave to try and innovate. Second, utilize the ecosystem that is already available. Third, do something that benefits many people,” he said.
Chairperson of Agrianita IPB University, Retna Widayawati, was also present to motivate students to be brave enough to become entrepreneurs. “STP is not just a building, but an ecosystem that bridges innovative ideas and research results with the industrial world. Look at STP as a golden opportunity to become a job creator, not a job seeker,” she said.
Other successful alumni at the talk show were Deva Primadia Almada (Assistant in Business Incubator of STP IPB), Fifin Nashirotun Nisya (CEO of PT SanGreat Natural Indonesia), Larasati Aliffia (CEO of PT Lokasoka), Ivan Taufiq Nugraha (CEO of PT Sutan Vet Medika), Al Fiqie (CEO of PT Export Tani Nusantara), and Bambang Sutrisno (CEO of CV Inovasi Anak Indonesia).
