IPB University and DAAD Facilitate the Education of Myanmar Students Affected by Conflict

IPB University was the only university chosen to be visited by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) delegation during their visit to Indonesia. The visit highlighted various collaborative programs and projects that have been established between IPB University and DAAD, the NUVIK initiative, and the European Union.
“This discussion focused on evaluating ongoing collaborations and exploring potential cooperation. Covering regenerative agriculture, entrepreneurship, empowerment of young farmers, and sustainability,” said Prof Iskandar, Vice Rector of IPB University for Global Connectivity, Cooperation, and Alumni.
In addition, the alumni of this program shared their experiences and expressed hope that educational and research programs between IPB University and partners in Europe, including the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Poland, could be collaborated more intensively.
Furthermore, the DAAD delegation also attended the EU Mobility Program for Myanmar (EMPM) at IPB University. Here, they listened directly to the experiences of scholarship recipients from Myanmar who are currently studying in Indonesia.
“IPB University is one of the hosts for these students, along with Airlangga University and President University. In particular, IPB University is currently hosting five students from Myanmar from this program,” said Prof Iskandar.
“This needs to be maintained and improved so that Indonesia not only provides benefits to its own nation, but also to the world,” he said again.
This visit is expected to strengthen the cooperative relationship between IPB University and higher education institutions in Europe, and further promote Indonesia as a center of quality education at the international level.
Director of International Education of IPB University, Puji Mudiana, SP, MA said, IPB University showed its commitment in providing access to education for international students who were forced to stop their studies due to the conflict in Myanmar.
She added, IPB University hosted an important meeting of Executive Master Program in Management (EMPM) scholarship recipients from three universities.
“IPB University accommodates five students from Myanmar, consisting of three master program students and two undergraduate program students. The three master students also had the opportunity to join the academic mobility program to Italy,” Puji said. (IAAS/LAN)
