Bullying is a serious problem, especially nowadays there are still many cases of bullying that occur in the school environment in Indonesia.

Reporting from the Yogyakarta City Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB), there were 22 children who were victims of violence in schools in 2024.

IPB University alumnus, Rico Juni Artanto invited 150 youths in Yogyakarta as volunteers to join the Buddy Pekerti® board game training session.

“We are always eager to continue collaborating with various parties, one of which is opening access to volunteers to work together to prevent bullying,” said Rico during the event at Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas (GIK), Yogyakarta, Saturday (5/3).

The initiator of Buddy Pekerti® and the #1MYouthsStopBullying movement added that the youth volunteers who attended this session received an educational session about the current bullying situation.

“They also attended a coaching technique session, followed by a role play using the Buddy Pekerti® board game media,” added the Co-Founder of Ruber Innovation Lab.

Participants, who are mostly students, simulate themselves as facilitators who will help students at school prevent bullying, strengthening the #1MYouthsStopBullying movement.

After the training session, participants will participate in a collaborative roadshow program with schools in Yogyakarta to socialize and practice playing Buddy Pekerti® in the school environment.

“I was touched by today’s Buddy Pekerti® role play session because I can tell stories to new people I know, but interestingly it can even be very deep. This will equip me to listen a lot and become a facilitator with younger students later,” said Dinda Ghaitsa Zahira, one of the participants and Founder of Zea Crochet.

This anti-bullying strengthening program is held for the next three months. Participants will also get mentoring sessions by experts and field practice to Yogyakarta schools which will be held in the period May to July 2025. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RMH)
