IPB University Students Assist Rengginang MSMEs to Learn Simple Bookkeeping and Digital Marketing
IPB University’s Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) student group conducted training and mentoring for rengginang micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jatimekar Village, Purwakarta Regency, West Java.
The training took the form of simple bookkeeping and a demonstration of creating a digital media marketing account such as Shopee. Both aspects are considered to encourage the marketing of rengginang MSME products. This activity was guided and taught by Ravasya Nugraha, an IPB University student from the Actuarial Study Program.
Rengginang is one of the most popular MSME products in Jatimekar Village. The product is made from glutinous rice that is shaped into rounds and then dried by drying in the sun and then fried in a large amount of cooking oil. So far, marketing of rengginang is usually done through WhatsApp and direct door-to-door sales.
According to Dodi, Village Coordinator of the Jatimekar Village Innovation KKN-T, the purpose of this activity is to increase the creativity of villagers in the development of rengginang MSMEs and expand the marketing of MSME products of the Jatimekar community.
“Hopefully, the rengginang MSMEs in Jatimekar Village will have social media and marketing accounts to promote their products online. Hopefully they will also be able to practice the simple bookkeeping that was delivered during the socialization,” he said.
As admitted by one of the UMKM players in Jatimekar Village, Lina, the training and mentoring of UMKM by IPB University Innovation KKN-T students really helped her. “I feel very helped, especially regarding simple bookkeeping for finances that I have never done.
“So far, my business financial records are still messy. With this activity, the cash flow from my sales has become more organized and recorded. In addition, the creation of an online marketing account on Shopee will hopefully make our rengginang products famous and have more consumers,” said Lina.
At the end of the activity, Effendi, a representative from Jatimekar Village, appreciated the initiation of the IPB University Innovation KKN-T students. According to him, MSMEs in his village were helped. They also received additional insight into selling rengginang products to be disseminated to online marketing.
“I hope this activity can have an impact and be sustainable in the future for rengginang MSMEs even though the IPB University Innovation KKN-T students have completed their service activities,” he hoped. (Rafly/Rz) (IAAS/TNY)
