Collaborating with Midwives and PKK Cadres, IPB University Innovation KKN-T Students Reveal the Nutritional Potential of Fish to Prevent Stunting
The IPB University Innovation Real-Thematic Working Lecture Group (KKN-T) Rowosari Village, Bonorowo District, Kebumen Regency, Central Java Province held socialization regarding stunting and the nutritional potential of fish. This effort is one way to prevent stunting which is carried out interactively with the participants of the Rowosari Village Integrated Development Post (Posbindu). This program works closely with midwives and village Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) cadres.
Tigor Maulana as the head of the KKN-T Innovation IPB University Rowosari Village team said the program was focused on preventing stunting which can be done by consuming nutritious food, one of which is fish.
"This work program begins with stunting socialization activities including definitions, impacts and foods that can prevent stunting such as fish, eggs, meat and vegetables," said Tigor Maulana during an activity that took place at the Rowosari Village Hall, recently.
He continued, this activity has the benefit of providing information related to the nutritional potential of fish as a way of preventing stunting, so that it is hoped that the public can take advantage of the potential of fish for maternal and child health. In addition to the socialization, there will be a demonstration regarding processed fish on Monday (24/7).
"Hopefully, socialization regarding the potential of fish for stunting prevention can increase knowledge and maximize the health of mothers and children in Rowosari Village," said Tigor.
Rowosari village midwife, Wawa said on the occasion, "This activity is already good, very useful and adds to the community's insight about fish, because previously there had been no socialization regarding the nutritional potential of fish. Apart from that, the community's response to this activity was also good.”
In practice, stunting socialization discusses more about the potential of fresh water and sea water fish, the nutritional content of fish, the characteristics of fresh and not fresh fish, the benefits of fish and various processed fish. IPB University Innovation KKN-T students work together with village midwives to distribute posters of fish potential for stunting prevention.
"Thank you to IPB University KKN-T students who have held outreach activities. This program is very useful for improving public health, especially children. Hopefully this activity can increase knowledge regarding stunting and how to prevent it, "said one Posbindu participant who said he was happy with this activity.
