Fishery is one of the livelihoods that the majority of the people of Tlogorejo Village, Bonorowo District, Kebumen, Central Java, are engaged in. However, there are several problems that are often faced by fish cultivators in Tlogorejo Village.

To answer this, IPB University Innovation students who are currently undergoing the Community Service Program (KKN-T) provide counseling on fish farming management. The counseling took place at the Tlogorejo Village Hall (5/7), attended by members of the fish cultivator group in Tlogorejo Village, namely the Mina Sari and Mina Tirta Groups.

Fishery cultivation developed by the surrounding community was initiated by the Fish Farmers Forum (FPI) chaired by Wibisono Susanto. The cultivation focused on enlargement with the main commodities being catfish, carp and tilapia. Diseases that attack farmed fish are usually smallpox and white muzzle. The local community overcomes the disease by utilizing chopped noni fruit and banana stems.

Another problem in fish farming is in the form of incompetent human resources. This is due to inadequate knowledge of the community regarding the cultivation, enlargement and processing of good fish.

"It is hoped that this extension program can help fish cultivator groups in Tlogorejo Village to minimize the number of deaths in fish, so that later it can continue to be developed. Hopefully this counseling can add to the knowledge of cultivator groups so they can maximize their cultivation results," said Faiz Poetra Rianto, a student representative of the KKN-T Inovasi.

Munawir as the representative of the Mina Tirta group also invited his group members to understand the counseling material provided. This is so that they can maximize the productivity of their cultivation so that they can further develop.

The counseling material provided was in the form of fish hatchery and the introduction of common diseases in cultured fish such as scabs caused by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria and mold caused by fungi. Natural food for fish larvae is generally in the form of mosquito larvae, silkworms, blood worms and phytoplankton.

"Fish are living things that need to be eaten. Providing feed with a high protein content and adding garlic as a supplement can increase appetite and increase fish growth," said Fadrian Difa Athallah, Aquaculture student at FPIK IPB University when delivering counseling. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RZL)
