IPB University Innovation KKN-T Students Strive for Food Security in Cikembulan through the Implementation of Budikdamber
The central government urges each region to optimize food security programs. In Cikembulan Village, Sidamulih Subdistrict, Pangandaran, West Java, IPB University students of the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) program are trying to help the village government by socializing the fish cultivation program in buckets (budikdamber). This is to strive for sustainable food security in the village.
“Budikdamber is an environmentally friendly fish farming technique. This method combines fish farming using buckets and utilizing the water for vegetable growth. This is in line with food security solutions while fulfilling nutritious food consumption and adding additional income on a household scale,” said Lutfia Sittaturrahmah as the Innovation KKN-T Coordinator in Cikembulan Village.
Iman Firdausy, Secretary of Cikembulan Village, expressed his support for this budikdamber activity. He mentioned that there is a need for effective implementation of new programs to support food security and meet the nutritional needs of families in the village. Therefore, he said, this budikdamber is one of the solutions.
“I have cultivated catfish in a pond, but not using vegetables. From this budikdamber, I expect profits not only from the catfish harvest, but also from vegetables grown in an easier way and relatively cheap maintenance costs,” responded Sumiyati, one of the family welfare empowerment (PKK) members who attended the socialization at the Cikembulan Village Multipurpose Building.
The IPB University Innovation KKN-T team also gave sets of kale cultivation to Cikembulan Village and one of the residents as a form of demonstration. “We will monitor and assist the development of catfish and kale cultivation during the KKN-T period,” said Lutfia Sittaturrahmah.
The socialization was attended by PKK members, RT and RW heads, youths and village officials. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ANF)
