Together with KLHK, IPB University KKN-T Team Socializes Social Forestry Program
The IPB University Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) group in Cikajang District held a socialization of the social forestry program that will be implemented in three villages, namely Margamulya Village, Cikandang Village and Simpang Village. The socialization of the social forestry program presented the Director of Social Forestry Area Preparation, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Syafda Roswandi, SHut, MSi as the speaker.
“Social forestry is a sustainable forest management system implemented in state forest areas or customary forests. In the concept of social forestry, local communities or customary law communities play a role as the main actors in improving welfare, environmental balance and socio-cultural dynamics through various forms of village forests, community forests, community plantation forests and customary forests,” said Sulthan Shidqi Ramadhan, KKN-T Innovation student representative.
Sulthan said that Garut Regency is an area that has a large forest area, so it has a high potential in the implementation of social forestry. The socialization was held offline at the Cikajang Village Sports Hall (GOR), Garut Regency and attended by 65 participants, namely representatives from Forest Village Community Institutions (LMDH) and agricultural practitioners in Cikajang District.
The socialization was divided into two sessions, namely the delivery of material and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which was enthusiastically followed by the participants. “This socialization is expected to provide answers and also knowledge to social forestry field practitioners and can also help the community together with IPB University KKN-T Innovation students in Cikajang District in running the social forestry program,” Sulthan concluded.
