IPB University's School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) held an Open Session of the IPB University SKHB Senate with a single agenda 'Declaration of Veterinarian's Oath (PSDH),' 12/7. The event was held at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW), Dramaga Campus of IPB and broadcast live on the SKHB IPB Official YouTube channel. The event was attended by 96 new veterinarians for the 2022/2023 Academic Year.

The Dean of SKHB IPB University, Dr drh Amrozi said that veterinary graduates can make a real contribution to national development, especially in the field of the veterinary profession. However, he reminded that in pursuing the profession of veterinary medicine there will be many challenges, including challenges in disease control, food safety and environmental health.

”The veterinarians who graduate today must believe that talent can be continuously developed. Believe that mistakes are an important part of learning and see failure as an opportunity to learn. Failure is taking a step back and then moving forward again. Therefore, I invite new veterinarians to continue learning and updating their knowledge because science and technology continue to develop," said Dr Amrozi.

The debriefing speech was also given by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI), Dr drh M Munawaroh. Dr Munawaroh invited these new graduates to immediately join the PDHI organization, because PDHI is the home for all veterinarians in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Dr Munawaroh conveyed four things that must be done by veterinarians after graduation, namely providing animal health services to animal owners (both small animals, large animals, domestic animals or wild animals); assisting the government in providing animal protein derived from eggs, meat and milk; assist the government in preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases; and socialize animal welfare to the community.

"I would like to thank SKHB IPB University for sending students to become veterinarians so as to strengthen the position of veterinarians in Indonesia. Hopefully the new veterinarians can pursue a career and be successful in the future," she concluded. (AP/Rz) (IAAS/YMK)
