Student of IPB Became the Indonesian Representative in the Event of International Conservation

Student of Study Program of Forest Conservation and Ecotourism who was currently pursuing a General Competence Education, Bogor Agricultural University (PPKU-IPB), Muhammad Aqil Hasan, became the Indonesian representative in the event of Commonwealth Conservations ‘Youth Participants in SDG 14: Towards a Healthy Ocean 2018’ in Malaysia, Thursday (29/3).

The program organized by the World Youth Foundation was participated by the participants from several countries including United Kingdom (UK), Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

This event highlighted the issues related to the marine ecosystems that occured today. “The essence of this event is to discuss the issues related to the Ocean, especially about the environment that focuses on the marine ecosystem that is happening right now. This is very closely related to IPB, because it is closely related to the environment, the agriculture, and also the Ocean. Especially in IPB, there is Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science,”  said Muhammad.

“Initially, the Student Activity Unit of Indonesian Green Action Forum (UKM of IGAF) of IPB which I follow gets the invitation from the World Youth Foundation and it is expected that there are the representatives which register. I already have a passport and there is a sustenance. Upon the parental consent, I sign up for the file selection. After a couple days of signing up, I get an e-mail that is accepted and this is my first experience in a conference abroad,” said the student from Semarang.

After attending this conference, Muhammad would take the small actions in the field of conservation. “My plan is, first the sharing with my friends about what I get on the show, then proceeding to the small actions first if the science that I get, it can be used for IPB,” he said. (Ath/ris)
