IPB Participation in the Development of Young Entrepreneur in Indonesia
Assistant Deputy for Youth Development, Ministry of Youth and Sport (Kemenpora) RI, Drs. Ponijan, MM and the Dean of Faculty of Economics and Management of Bogor Agricultural University (FEM IPB), Prof. Dr. Yusman Syaukat, officially opened the Workshop on "Entrepreneurship Interest in Youth, One Youth One Product", recently. This event was organized by the Department of Shariah Economy of FEM IPB, in cooperation with Youth Development Division of Kemenpora RI through the program Young Entrepreneurial Entrepreneurship (WMP) in 2017. The Workshop was implemented in the Common Class Rooms (CCR) Auditorium, IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor, and was attended by 350 participants from various backgrounds.
Chairman of the Department of Shariah Economy of the Faculty of Economic and Management of Bogor Agricultural University (FEM IPB), Dr. Jaenal Effendi, said that the workshop was the culmination of youth entrepreneurship development Program through cooperation with the Youth Development Division through WMP program in 2017. "This program is established to support the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia, especially among youth, so that the nation is more independent and open wide employment so as to reduce the unemployments," said Dr. Jaenal who also served as Chairman of Partnership Working Group Youth Entrepreneurship Capital (LPKP) Kemenpora RI for the year 2014-2015.
He explained that cash flow is essential to small business survival, yet many entrepreneurs struggle to pay the bills while they’re waiting for checks to arrive. It was the reason why such program was formulated. It was expected to be the solution for problems they encounter without reducing the substance of business they are going to run. WMP program is a procurement of capital access assistance to entrepreneurs who just pioneered his business, the recipients of the said capital assistance must be owners of the businesses that run al last for one year. After a rigorous survey and selection, there were 40 participants of WMP 2017 who were qualified to receive a capital benefit amounted to 20 million rupiah.
WMP 2017 participants who met the criterion for entrepreneur candidates, they were entitled for capital access, as well as joining the entrepreneurship training by coach who are experts and practitioners in businesses. The opportunities provided will enable them to utilize the capital to develop their businesses.
Dr Jaenal said today, Tuesday, 23 January 2018, a number of beneficiaries of the program expressed his joy. "Alhamdulillah, this morning I get a lot of testimony, one of which is from the owner of home business that produces Fried Onion "Mak Nyos". He was the one who initially received funding support of 20 million rupiah, he experiences that his business is continues to grow. He hopes this program can support farmers in Brebes to improve their business skills in businesses," he said.
The speakers for the workshop among others were Director of International Center for Applied Finance (InterCAFE) of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) of IPB, Dr. Nunung Nuryartono; Director of the Center for Islamic Business and Economics Studies (CIBEST) Irfan Syauqi Beik; CEO of Java Travel, Arif Yasir Rahman; Business Practitioners, Sigit Nurdiansyah and Sutrija; Lecturer on Agribusiness of FEM IPB, Dr. Rachmat Pambudy; and Head of Business Incubator (Incubie) of LPPM IPB, Prof. Dr. Memen Surahman.
