The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Faculty of IPB is the Best in Indonesia

Executive Director of The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital  (RSHP) for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bogor Agricultural University (FKH IPB), Prof. Drh. Deni Noviana, PhD, stated that the wise use of animals to support education and research is now increasingly necessary. In addition,  students and veterinarians also need a platform to improve their clinical skills and share experiences on clinical cases that have been dealt with.

RSHP FKH IPB is the largest and the best animal hospital in Indonesia with a total land area of one hectare. In addition, RSHP IPB is the most complete animal hospital in the country. No wonder RSHP FKH IPB is a referral animal hospital.

"Furthermore, RSHP FKH in particular has additional as practitioner functions for the supporting the educational program of veterinarian that became a reference in Indonesia," he explained.

RSHP FKH IPB is located in IPB Campus,  Jalan Agatis, Dramaga, Babakan, Dramaga, Bogor, West Java, it was established in 2000 and inaugurated by the 4th president RI, K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid.

The RSHP FKH IPB is not only for dogs and cats, it also caters to other pets such as horses, cows, goats and exotic animals. Even serving treatment for wildlife.

As an educational veterinary hospital, RSHP FKH IPB a unit of the FKH IPB —delivers state-of-the-art clinical care while providing training opportunities and clinical experiences for DVM students and post graduate veterinarians training to be specialists. RSHP FKH IPB is also used as an internship place for veterinary paramedics students and summer course program for students from abroad.

Especially for students of Vocational Education Program for Veterinarians (PPDH), Through the flow of referral patients, consultations, student externs, and more, the hospital keeps the college in close touch with IPB veterinarians. RSHP FKH IPB has a hospital program to provide clinical and hands-on experience for students in intensive animal handling.

"For undergraduate students, some practicum activities such as clinical diagnostics and general surgery are given during the third and fifth semesters. Meanwhile, for PPDH program, the hospital provide a total co-assistantships for 4 months. During the program at RSHP FKH IPB, they are given animal surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, clinical pathology, reproduction and diagnostic laboratories,” he added.

To strengthen the role in providing the best service in handling animals while contributing for the development of continuing education for professional (such as organizing  workshops and training courses), RSHP FKH IPB collaborates with professional organizations such as Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI).

"RSHP IPB has established cooperation with PDHI and is also supported by various private companies such as equipment, feed and pharmaceutical (drugs)," he concluded. (Wied)
