Achievement

The diffusion of IPB3S varieties program of IPB3S varieties with rice production technology of IPB Prima aims to introduce IPB technology assemblies, i.e. high yield rice varieties and rice production technology that increases rice productivity in order to accelerate the realization of food self-sufficiency in Indonesia. The activities were conducted by a team of researchers from the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), consisted of Hajrial Aswidinnoor, Dwi Guntoro, Sugiyanta, Anggi Nindita and Hafith Furqoni from the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture (AGH); Leopold Nelwan from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Biosystem; Musa Hubeis and Mimin Aminah from the Management Department; Suryo Wiyono and Widodo from the Department of Plant Protection (PTN); and Hermanu Wijaya from the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources.

The Research Programs consisted of three main activities, namely (1). Dissemination of varieties IPB3S rice utilizing production technology of IPB Prima Rice; (2). Development of web-based management information system (MIS), for planning and monitoring of IPB3S variety cultivation with IPB Prima technology package; and (3). High-capacity paddy drying system with integrated fluidized and in-store drying pile method.

The research program was carried out with the aim of introducing the results of IPB research program and innovations, it is the high yielded rice varieties. This rice variety is bred to increase rice productivity to accelerate the realization of food self-sufficiency, development of integrated model of fluidized pile dryer and in-store drying, and development of web-based management information system for planning and distribution analysis of IPB3S varieties with IPB Prima technology package.

This dissemination activity was carried out in two different locations. The first location is in Banyuwangi Regency with total area of 10.87 hectares, of 8.91 hectares out of this area is for IPB3S; 1.96 hectares out  of the area is for Ciherang rice varieties. The second location is in Tegal regency with total area of  5 hectares.

Based on the research results, the products of the two districts are different although they have same trend. The research results of a web-based SIM development recommended  that systematic steps should be taken to supply and distribute IPB3S seeds by involving private sector and agricultural agencies. Experimental results show that IPB3S varieties with IPB Prima technology can produce higher productivity and better yields when it is compared with Ciherang variety utilizing conventional cultivation technology. A further study that is currently underway is a genetic study to study the behaviour of the number of panicles in rice. (Wied)
