A Group of students of IPB, Attended the Launching of “Pancasila Educational Strengthening Program”
Twenty five (25) students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) attended the "Launching of Pancasila Educational Strengthening Program", as a participant as well as Liaison Officer (LO). The program was organized in cooperation between the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) RI and Unit Kerja Presiden Pembinaan Ideologi Pancasila (UKP PIP Presidential Working Unit for Pancasila and Civics education) for two days, 11-12 August 2017, held at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC) IPB Campus, Baranang Siang, Bogor. The event was participated by five hundred three (503) students and one hundred and five (105) lecturers representing one hundred and five (105) public and private universities from Aceh to Papua.
"The purpose and objective of this event is to strengthen and to improve the understanding and the practice of Pancasila in the community, the nation and the state. Therefore, it is necessary to internalize the values of Pancasila, it must be implemented in our daily life, "said Director General of Kemenristekdikti RI's Learning and Student Affairs Intan Ahmad.
The event was officially opened and inaugurated by the Minister of Kemenristekdikti RI, Mohamad Nasir. In his remarks the minister stated that the Indonesian nation today has many problems, such as poverty, radicalism, drugs, intolerance, terrorism, the negative side of positive thinking and nation's low competitiveness, decreasing the understanding of Pancasila ideology, 1945 Constitution, in fostering national unity and integrity. Therefore, Pancasila education is required in Higher Education which will not only produce graduates who are cognitively intelligent but also able to understand the problems of the nation, so that it can contribute to build this nation. Pancasila and civic education in the university is required to strengthen the students in shaping the attitude of nationalism. Students are spearheading the future of a country that they have to love their country because the science which is accepted must be applied in their social life.
The event was also attended by Megawati Soekarnoputri, the 5th President of RI as well as chairman of the Pancasila UKP Steering Committee; Tri Sutrisno, who is the 6th Vice President of RI; Secretary General Kemenristekdikti RI, Yudi Latif as Head of UKP PIP accompanied by his deputies; Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto; Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of IPB, Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono, as well as a number of university rectors in Jakarta and Bogor.
Yudi Latif as the Head of UKP PIP, Indonesia is a country made up of diverse ethnic, racial, cultural and religious. Indonesia's national motto Bhinekka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) refers to the variety in the country's internal composition but also indicates that – despite all differences in its multicultural society – there is a true sense of unity (Indonesianness) among the people of Indonesia. Pancasila is believed being influenced and has borrowed some aspects of world's values and ideologies, including nationalism, humanity, democracy, socialism and religiosity. The sila or principles reflect this influence, which argues that religiosity, humanity, unity, democracy and social justice as the shared values among Indonesians.[11] The need to unify this diverse country also has led to the formulation of national motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which can be translated as unity in diversity. It declares the essential unity of its members despite ethnic, regional, social or religious differences.
"In short, Pancasila is our meeting point where a color is combined. Pancasila is our stepping point where all laws, regulations, policies are based on Pancasila. Pancasila also becomes our destination point where this nation should be directed. Pancasila is a powerful foundation for Indonesia a country made up of diverse ethnic, racial, cultural and religious, which is endowed with abundant natural resources. Pancasila constitutes a basic consensus that becomes a key element in establishing the nation, "he said.
On this occasion D'voice, IPB Diploma choir, performed the national anthem “Indonesia Raya” and a number of national and regional songs at the opening and closing program. The first day was opened with orientation activities for lecturers and students about the strengthening of Pancasila values and also watching the movie "Pantja Sila: Ideals and Reality". While the second day was actually the main event that took place at the presidential palace of Bogor, and was attended by the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. (Wied)
