Himasiter IPB University Feed Industry Visit to PT Prima Agrostis Nusantara

Division of the Feed Industry Bureau of Science and Profession of the Animal Feed and Nutrition Student Association (Himasiter), Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology (INTP), Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) IPB University carried out a feed industry visit work program to PT Prima Agrostis Nusantara (PAN), Jonggol, Bogor Regency (4/3).

The project leader of the feed industry visit, Kurniawan, said that this visit was a direct survey activity of the feed industry. The aim is to increase knowledge and information regarding feed mill management through direct discussions and interviews with workers at PT PAN.

"PT PAN is one of the industries engaged in animal feed. The animal feed industry, which has only been established for less than ten years, has been facilitated with the latest technology. That way, we can make it a place for practicum and research for students, in the field of cultivation to the production of forage mechanically and industrially," said Kurniawan.

Manager of PT PAN, Jihan Aqilla said, the product from his company has the trademark 'Sorinfer' which is a ready-to-eat fermented complete feed. With Sorinfer, feeding is easy.

“Sorinfer can be the answer to the current feed problem. The reason is, not all breeders have enough land. Not all are also able to formulate quality feed. Sorinfer is the answer,” she said.

During this visit, the participants were introduced to the tools that are operated in producing Sorinfer. Apart from being introduced to the tools, participants were encouraged to try to operate some of these tools. This will give new experiences to students, especially in industrial-scale feed production.

On the same occasion, participants were invited to explore pastures, sorghum orchards, and Indigofera gardens using tractors to introduce field conditions to the animal feed industry, especially in the forage section. (*/Rz) (IAAS/HAP)
