IPB University and BWI Distribute Waqf Proceeds to Farmers in Kediri
The Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) with IPB University and Solidaritas Alumni Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat Indonesia (SASPRI) Kandat Area signed a cooperation agreement for the distribution of SWR003 series retail waqf sukuk returns held in Kandat Village, Kediri, East Java. The cooperation signing is the realization of a Memorandum of Understanding between BWI and IPB University and SASPRI Nasional.
The amount of SWR003 returns distributed in the first phase was IDR100 million. Collaboration between BWI, IPB University and SASPRI became the first model of Waqf management, where the returns are not only used to improve the welfare of farmers, but also will be given in the form of educational scholarships managed by IPB University.
"The management of Waqf cash for this breeder empowerment program is a unique waqf management model, since it combines the management of cash waqf in state sukuk investment instruments with productive waqf whose beneficiaries (mauquf'alaih) are breeders and outstanding students who need educational funding assistance. As a cash waqf investment instrument, the SWR003 series retail waqf sukuk will be issued on July 13, 2022," said the Chairman of BWI's Kenazhiran Institution, Hafiz Gaffar.
Naufal Mahfudz as the Head of Business, Investment and Waqf Management Agency of IPB University thanked BWI for choosing the breeder empowerment program as one of the SWR003 return distribution programs. The management of returns in addition to improving the welfare of breeders is also for educational scholarships for IPB University students.
"This Waqf management model is very interesting to develop and IPB University is very optimistic that in the future the number of livestock will continue to increase along with the increase in Waqf funds managed by BWI," said Naufal.
In his speech, Harjito as the Wali SASPRI of Kandat Area, also expressed his gratitude for the implementation of the breeder empowerment program run by BWI and IPB University.
