Members of the International Branch of the IPB University Alumni Association in Japan Organizing Committee were Officially Elected
The Central Organizing Committee of the Alumni Association (DPP HA) of IPB University is again encouraging the strengthening of the alumni network and consolidation of organizations globally. The HA IPB University International Branch Organizing Committee (DPC) is now expanding its network to Japan through the election and inauguration of DPCI members at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Tokyo, (2/3).
Muhammad Muharam Hidayat was elected as Chairman of DPCI HA IPB University Japan at this ceremony. "I congratulate all the administrators who have just been elected, I hope it goes smoothly and is given the convenience of spreading inspiration through the innovations that have been created," said Walneg S Jas, Head of HA IPB University in his remarks.
On this occasion, the HA IPB University Honorary Member certificate was handed over to the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan and the Federation of Micronesia by the Head of HA IPB University and the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan.
Prof Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University, said that the effort to develop the IPB University network at the global level is also an effort to inspire the nation through innovation. IPB University through its alumni is trying to encourage technological innovation, especially in the agricultural sector to strengthen relations between Japan and Indonesia.
"IPB University through the best Science Techno Park in Indonesia is trying to bridge industry and campuses to increase the commercialization of IPB University's innovations," he explained.
He hopes that this effort can inspire and have a positive impact on society and the progress of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). In the last five years, IPB University has reached 4,230 villages in Indonesia through technology assistance to support local UMKM.
"Innovations that are techno-sociopreneur in various export-oriented villages are aimed at building the confidence of the village community. This is because the village actually has the capacity to compete at the global level,” he continued.
Alumni of IPB University in Japan, he continued, are expected to encourage the strengthening of innovation so that Indonesia can become a global player. Alumni not only work for IPB University, but for the Indonesian nation by supporting and collaborating as global players.
IPB University, he explained, also expanded its wings through the development of international Community Service Programs (KKN). Japanese students and IPB University will exchange places for KKN in their destination countries. This effort has been realized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which according to him must have a global order.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Heri Akhmadi, through his brief remarks, congratulated the new board of the DPCI Japan. He emphasized that the future of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan depended on the agricultural sector.
"Opportunities for Indonesia in the agricultural sector are very wide open, however technical obstacles still need to be addressed. I am deloghted that IPB University has supported the export of various commodities with very good supervision, so we hope that Indonesia can take a better position in Japan for food exports," he explained.
He welcomed IPB University's efforts to approach the agricultural sector from a business aspect through triple helix collaboration. This effort needs to be continuously encouraged so that Indonesia's agricultural sector can be competitive with neighboring countries. (MW/Zul) (IAAS/DSR)
