Himasiter of IPB University Visits Successful Alumni
Some time ago, IPB University students who are members of the Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology Student Association (Himasiter) visited Prof Nahrowi’s residence in Bogor. Prof Nahrowi is one of the successful alumni of the Faculty of Animal Science, IPB University. He is also a lecturer at IPB University.
This visit is part of the 2023 Alumni Visit program held by Himasiter. The Alumni Visit is a forum or event to share experiences from alumni of the Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology (INTP), Faculty of Animal Science, IPB University, who have experience in their respective fields.
“By visiting in person, we want to create a good relationship between students and alumni. This activity is a discussion and sharing between Himasiter and alumni as resource persons,” said Pascal, representative of the Himasiter board.
According to him, currently there are many students who still do not have career plans after going through four years of lectures on campus. This needs to be followed up by holding an activity that involves alumni who have been directly involved in the world of work.
In this activity, Prof Nahrowi was very open to visits from students from the Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology (INTP), Faculty of Animal Science, IPB University. Prof Nahrowi has various kinds of livestock at his residence. Such as dairy cows, goats, sheep, pigeons, ducks, chickens, geese, rabbits, guinea pigs and the maggot cultivation program.
Apart from animal husbandry, Prof. Nahrowi also established a Kindergarten (TK). This kindergarten was established for children who want to learn but are constrained by costs, where the costs that must be paid are sincere.
With the existence of this kindergarten and farm, Prof Nahrowi wants to carry out integration, namely children know and learn to love farm animals so they don’t fear or even hate them.
Before visiting Prof Nahrowi’s residence, students are given guidance, namely in a sterile condition to prevent disease transmission because they will interact with farm animals which have very sensitive properties.
Reifahren, one of the visiting students expressed his appreciation to the Himasiter board for providing a forum for students to get to know alumni more closely.
“Through this alumni visit, we have an idea of how to plan for post-graduation later. Together with Mr. Nahrowi who is very humble, makes us feel comfortable in his residence, very motivating and a role model for all of us,” he said. (*/Zul) (IAAS/Res)
