Applied Online Presence, Rector of IPB University Visits Lecture Rooms
Entering the Even Semester of the academic year 2019/2020, IPB University has implemented an online presence for its students. The online presence aims to welcome the Green Campus 2020, one of which is implementing a paperless policy. This online presence policy is intended to improve efficiency so that teaching staff (tendik) no longer need to recapitulate student attendance. This online presence innovation can also increase the discipline of student and lecturer attendance so that lectures can begin on time.
Deputy Chancellor for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Drajat Martianto explained, lecturers who want to teach courses are required to display a QR code before lectures begin. This QR code can be prepared by Tendik in a room that is already available by the computer. "If the QR code is displayed on the screen, students who come must scan while entering the classroom before sitting in their chair," said Dr. Drajat.
This online presence was applied for the first time for students of the General Competence Education Program (PPKU) of IPB University on Monday (1/20). To ensure the online presence went smoothly, IPB University Chancellor, Prof. Arif Satria visited several classes to make sure.
The first time it was implemented, it turned out that this online presence still encountered several obstacles. Obstacles that were found include some of the lecturers' laptops not yet connected to the IPB Access internet connection, the scanning process takes 10-15 minutes, the quality of the LCD and the room is too bright causing the QR code to not be scanned.
Message of the Chancellor at the Beginning of Semester entering this even semester, Prof. Arif Satria advised the students to become agile and resilient learners. Being an agile and resilient learner is an important provision for dealing with change and uncertainty. Only people with mentality who learn can be adaptive to change, "he explained.
Prof. Arif Satria also emphasized that science is currently growing and only strong learners will be able to follow the development of that knowledge and can even be a determinant of scientific trends. "The knowledge and skills that we use will one day blunt when volatility changes occur, unless we are able to continue to hone it. Sharpening is what characterizes learners, "added Prof. Arif Satria.
Meanwhile, to the lecturers, Prof. Arif Satria advised the lecturers to give more content to lectures. The point is that the lecturers not only convey and explain the text of the course material, but also inspire students.
"To inspire means to inspire students to be more eager to learn, think and do something useful for the benefit. The more we are able to inspire, the more students love the knowledge we teach and the more students love our lectures. Student love for lectures is a door to create powerful agile learners, "he said.
The Professor of IPB University from the Faculty of Human Ecology also advised that the lecturers can provide examples for students. As Ki Hajar Dewantara said, "ing ngarso sung tulodho" which means that in the future he must set an example. "The spirit of learners needs to be exemplary, and for student lecturers are a source of exemplary. The simplest example is the discipline of lecturers, such as entering the lecture room on time, "he concluded. (IAAS/NAS)
