Holds Fish Eating Day, FPIK IPB University Provides Thousands of Free Lunch Portions with Fish Menu

Commemorating the 56th Anniversary, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) held a Fish Eating Day for students, lecturers and education staff at Dramaga Campus, Bogor (11/27). In this event, FPIK provided a healthy and nutritious food menu from various fish menus. Namely 1000 lunch packages, 500 servings of Tomyamkung, 600 servings of grilled tuna and 300 servings of grilled squid.

This anniversary commemoration carries the theme, "Smart Millennial, Eating Fish". As a form of concern for the nation's generation to be healthy and smart by eating fish, FPIK cooperates with the FPIK Alumni Association, FPIK Agrinanita and Agrianita Kitchen IPB University.

The Dean of FPIK, Dr. Ir Luky Adrianto said that in addition to commemorating the 56th Anniversary of FPIK, this activity was also carried out to commemorate the national fish day which falls on 21 November 2019. And the most important thing is that today is the day of faculty love namely FPIK IPB University .

According to Dr Luky, the current generation of new students is born in 2000 and is therefore called the millennial generation. So to introduce the science of fisheries to the millennial generation, they need to be socialized about the benefits of eating fish.

"Everyone knows that eating fish smartens the brain. But for millennials, the most effective way to socialize it is to practice it right away. Let us support millennial generation to grow healthy and smart, give them good and healthy food intake such as fish. And make them smart generation of millennials achieving for a glorious future," he said.

While the Chairperson of FPIK Agrianita, Sulis Widiawati Luki Adrianto explained that the Fish Eating Day at FPIK would be made a model or adopted by the Agrianita Kitchen of IPB University to hold a Fish Eating Day at other faculties at IPB University each month.

"For FPIK and FPIK Agrianita, activities like this have been held the seventh time well. And became the first for Agrianita Kitchen IPB University. The Agrianita IPB University Kitchen Program is a free Fish Eating Day program. This program is highly anticipated by students because they get free, healthy and nutritious lunch. Lunch with cross-faculties, cross-generation will certainly provide another atmosphere for students. This activity can increase the sense of togetherness between students and also close student relations with Agrianita IPB University mothers, as mothers for those in their place of study, far from their parents," he added.

It is expected that in the future, activities like this can be maintained in every faculty, more and more fish menu can be prepared for IPB University students and Fish Eating Day activities will be implemented or held every month in each faculty at IPB University.

On this occasion the Advisory Board of the FPIK Alumni Association, Nelly Oswini said that the FPIK Alumni Association will always encourage and motivate the implementation of the FPIK fish eating day. It was hoped that all IPB University students would eat fish.

"Fish is very good in nutrition. Besides protein is equivalent to eating beef. Let's make it a habit to eat fish so that the millennial generation remains smart and healthy," he said. (NR)
