IPB University Students Campaign Zero Waste
The International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) of the IPB University Local Committee held The 4th Youth Agricareture. The activity is an annual large program organized by each IAAS Indonesia Local Committee under the Vice Director of IAAS Indonesia Project and Science. The 2019 Youth Agricareture was held as a form of youth care to improve the lives of the community in terms of education, environment, agriculture and empowerment, with the main theme being Zero Waste.
"We hope that young people can be a mover in raising social awareness about the importance of the concept of zero waste for the environment and the agricultural sector," said Azhari Ridha D, IAAS LC IPB University Local Committee Director.
Dea Amelia as the Chair of the 2019 Youth Agricareture explained that there were three series of activities, namely the social campaign which was held on 25-26 September 2019, YACT Goes to School on 19 October 2019, and YACT Goes to VCP on 26 October 2019.
According to Dea, the first activity carried out was the Social Campaign. In this activity, IAAS LC IPB presented the theme 'Zero Waste' which focuses on the transportation of waste around the Campus of IPB University. In this activity, the campaigner explained about the facts about the transportation of garbage that had been carried out by IPB University.
In addition, participants also exchanged plastic bottles with totebags and bamboo straws. Through this activity, it is expected that participants, especially IPB University students, will take more initiative in minimizing the amount of waste in their environment.
The second activity is YACT Goes to School. "The activity is an educational activity on the environment and agriculture for high school students. YACT Goes To School consists of an interactive talkshow about the urgency of reducing the amount of waste in the surrounding environment and the application of the principle of zero waste among young people, "said Dea, an IPB University student.
In addition, a Focus Group Discussion was also held with the topic "Solutions in Resolving Garbage Problems in the School Environment".
Through this activity it is expected that participants who are young people are more aware in minimizing the amount of waste in the environment and initiatives in protecting the environment.
The last activity in the 2019 Youth Agricareture event series was YACT Goes to VCP. VCP is an abbreviation of the Village Concept Project, which focuses on community development and empowerment, in the form of direct activities to the community in partner villages. This activity was carried out in Jabal Rahmah Village, Tenjolaya District, Tapos 01 Village, which is a partner village of IAAS LC IPB. The activity consisted of socialization about the Garbage Bank by Ani Apriliyani and community service activities with residents of Kampung Jabal Rahmah.
In addition, the activity was also carried out at MI Al Azkia with students in the AGRIRANGER 3. The event was an educational activity for students in agriculture and the environment. The YACT Goes to VCP activity was closed with Ngaliwet enjoying the food provided by the residents and Ngariung with a group of farmers discussing "Efficient Use of Agricultural Materials" with the Farmers' Center Representatives and Plant Clinic of IPB.
In addition, on this occasion, the Sumberjaya Farmers Group also discussed agricultural issues in their village. (** / ris)
