IPB University Collaborates Veterinary Science with Business Science Towards Industrial Era 4.0
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), IPB University working with the School of Business (SB) IPB University held an International Community Seminar on Economics and Social Sciences on Southeast Asian Animal Health (ISESSAH-SEA) and the Scientific Meeting of the Veterinary Epidemiology Association of Indonesia (IVEEA) 2019 on the Baranangsiang Campus of IPB, Thursday-Friday (17-18 / 10).
Prof. Srihadi Agungpriyono, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of IPB University, approved the need for efforts to elaborate cross-cutting scientific knowledge in the world of veterinary medicine with a long-held social economy. However, this has not been followed up clearly. The impact of multi-dimensional animal diseases is that successful social and economic effects can also influence the reduction in costs over diseases caused by animals.
"Things like that are quite extraordinary economic losses. For example, it is very easy for us to eliminate rabies because the community's habits are still close to animals in their daily lives. Regarding considerations not only regarding animal vaccines, but also social effects and ways of educating the public, the social necessity needed by veterinarians who have not yet been aware. "Social sciences and business sciences are important in the daily lives of veterinarians," said the IPB University researcher.
Furthermore, the Professor of IPB University said that the compilation of community maintenance needs was conveyed to the government without compilation with economic calculations, renewal was not considered important as a result of financing procurement. "Veterinarians must have the sense to be able to provide to the government through the ability to record veterinary science, business and social science. It turns out that it has been thought about in Europe through the ISESSAH association founded by Prof. Hank. Southeast Asia including Indonesia is an extraordinary region for the spread of disease. So Southeast Asia is a strategic area, so we must have the ISESSAH Chapter Southeast Asia, "added the IPB University lecturer.
IPB University began formally joining this year in the ISESSAH-SEA association.
The Rector of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria, the keynote speaker who delivered IPB University was a multidisciplinary university of science. "To be more effective and successful in solving various problems that exist in the industrial era 4.0 requires collaboration from various disciplines," said the Rector of IPB University. Awareness of the importance of animal health is a common problem that occurs in society. But this becomes a dilemma when no social agreement is reached to resolve the issue.
Dr. Idqan Fahmi, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the IPB University Business School said that there are two important sides that must be integrated in the multidimensional sciences at the IPB University. "Business opportunities are seen as business opportunities and opportunities. This is something that needs to be explored to create business opportunities, not just to take advantage, but on the contrary with the business drive to make problem solving easy by involving many people because of the large number of participation. If people see a business developing and many people care about the health of these animals. We will build collaboration between animal health science and business so that dealing with animal health issues is resolved and this issue is the concern of many people, "explained the IPB University lecturer from the School of Business.
According to Dr. Fahmi one concrete implementation of this activity is the development of the Master Program in Animal Health Management. At present the Business School has held meetings with all parties, one of which is the poultry or poultry industry.
The International Seminar, chaired by Dr. Etih Sudarnika, carries the theme "Strengthening Animal Health in the Animal Husbandry Business Towards 4.0 Industries in Southeast Asia". ISESSAH-SEA 2019 is a public meeting to link and oppose research projects among experts and researchers in the fields of social science, animal health and production economics, epidemiologists, veterinarians, medical donors and government agencies in the Southeast Asian region.
