IPB University through the Center for Coastal and Ocean Resources Study (PKSPL), Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Directorate of Scientific Information and Strategic Publications (DPIS), IPB University Maritime Consortium, Maritime Consortium (Faculty of Fisheries and Maritime Sciences (FPIK), Schools Business (SB), Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) and Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta) IPB University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, organized an International Conference titled “Ports, Shipping and Maritime Logistics: Responding to Millennial Challenges and Opportunities in Indonesia”, Thursday (26/9). This activity is one of a series of 56th Anniversary activities of IPB University.

The conference was opened by 2019 Elected Vice President who will be inaugurated on October 20, Prof. Dr. (HC) KH Ma’ruf Amin and attended by the Director General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. R Agus H Purnomo and Rector of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria.

KH Ma’ruf Amin conveyed several important things related to the spirit of cooperation in developing Indonesia as the world’s maritime axis. “The Indonesian nation has maritime potential that must be able to be managed properly, because this potential will become a problem if we do not manage it well. As a country with 70 percent more territorial waters, Indonesia should excel in maritime, but now we are still in the process of optimizing the potential President Jokowi has also been determined to make Indonesia a global maritime axis, PKSPL IPB University has given many ideas in achieving our shared goals, I also hope that with this event cooperation can be established between the government, universities, and industry to advance the Indonesian Maritime sector,” said KH Ma’ruf Amin.
