IPB University’s Superior Research Laboratory Unit (AR Lab) holds a seminar and workshop on High Resolution Mass Spectrometry in Metabolomic Research at Dramaga Campus, Bogor (6/9). The seminar in collaboration with AR Lab IPB University and PT Genecraft Labs aims to introduce AR Lab to lecturers, students and other stakeholders.

This seminar presented Goh Lin-Tang, Ph.D, Senior Manager (SEA) Thermo Fisher Scientific, with material entitled Introduction & Latest Omic Development based on Orbitrap Mass Spectrometry, Dr. Mohamad Rafi from IPB University with material entitled Q-Exactive Plus Orbitrap Application HRMS for Medicinal Plant Metabolomics and Rudi Heryanto, SSi., MSi from IPB University with material entitled Q-Exactive Plus Orbitrap HRMS Application for Metabolomics – Homestasis.

According to the Head of the Leading Research Laboratory Unit (AR Lab), Dr. Ir Kiagus Dahlan in his remarks said that AR Lab was open to collaborating with other institutions for research development in Indonesia.

In this seminar, Goh Lin-Tang, Ph.D delivered the development of LC MS and the advantages of orbitrap as the latest mass spectrometer that produces high-resolution and accurate mass data, thereby increasing sensitivity in analyte trace detection, characterization and quantization and comprehensive sample analysis.

Furthermore, the application submitted by Dr. Mohamad Rafi and Rudi Heryanto from IPB University.

In addition, the application of omics with LC MS-MS delivered by the two speakers from IPB University relates to the metabolomic field of medicinal plants by looking at the profile of compounds contained in medicinal plants with different plant parts. The homeostatic field presented in this seminar is related to the stability or balance of the metabolite profile in a system.

The activity continued with the introduction of tools for metabolomics, namely high resolution mass spectrometry liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry gas chromatography, and high performance liquid chromatography. (NR)
