Farewell Party, Farewell to IPB University Students After Staying a Year in Dormitory

New students of IPB University must attend the General Competency Education Program (PPKU) at the first level. In addition, they are also required to live in a dormitory for one year. The end of the period in the dormitory was closed by Farewell Party which was attended by thousands of PPKU IPB University students. This event was held at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW), Sunday (05/26).

In his speech, the IPB University Rector Dr. Arif Satria said that emotional intelligence is the key to a successful carrier. Emotional intelligence can be built with high self-awareness.

“Emotional intelligence can be seen from how to control our emotions and status. Self management is also important and we need to know how to manage it properly. By living in a dormitory, students know how to speak well and behave with others. Soft skills and characters must be inherent in us. Characters can be honest, disciplined, and responsible. We must be able to tolerate a variety of religions and cultures, accept what is good and more critical. PPKU students are also expected to be able to think and move in advancing IPB, “said Dr. Arif.

In the event, there were also representatives of deans from the faculty to symbolically accept PPKU students. The event took place with great fanfare. Students enliven the GWW with their own unique dormitory yells. Some students participated in band performances and angklung. After that it was followed by the announcement of the creative video of the General Sociology course held by Dr. Wise. The event was closed by delivering messages and impressions while in the dormitory by PPKU students and senior residents as well as video screenings of various activities in the hostel. (NR)
