Care IPB Holds Exclusive Discussion Regarding the Draft Law on Provision and Distribution of Veterinary Medicine
Responding to the publication of the draft Republic of Indonesia (RI) Minister of Agriculture Regulation (Permentan) concerning the Provision and Distribution of Animal Medicine issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution and Empowerment (CARE) Institute for Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) IPB University held an Exclusive Discussion at IPB International Convention Center, Bogor (12/4). With the theme of "Review of the Draft Regulation on the Supply and Distribution of Veterinary Drugs in Indonesia", there were 40 experts from various related fields such as regulators, importers, domestic entrepreneurs, consumers and academics.
“Since this regulation involves many stakeholders like drugs producers company, importers, exporters, distributors, and businessmen, inputs from these stakeholders are needed so this regulation will not create conflict in the future,” said Dr. Dahri as the Head of Committee of the Discussion as well as the Secretary of CARE IPB.
According to him, the result of this discussion will be an additional input for the team to enrich more advanced analysis. The result will be given to the regulators to be put into consideration, before it will be passed as a constitution.
The speakers for the first session were Drh. Ni Made Ria I, Ph.D from the Ministry of Agriculture as the Head of Sub-directory of Veterinary Medicine Supervision and Manufacturing Industry Planning Director of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Drs. Said Ridwan, who delivered the topic 'Investment Opportunities in the Animal Medicine Industry'.
The third speaker was Edy Purwoko, Country Director PT. Ceva Animal Health Indonesia, which also served as the representative from Asian Animal Health Association (AAHA). The last speaker, which conveyed the topic of ‘Experience of Implementing Regulations for Oversight, Production, Distribution and Drug Safety', was Dra. Ratna Irawati, Apt, M.Kes as Director of Drug Distribution and Service Monitoring, Narcotics, Psychotropic and Precursor, BPOM.
The second session was opened with the presentation from Drh. Hartono from the Association of Indonesian Poultry People (PINSAR), followed by Dr. Drh. Agus Wiyono from the Animal Medicine Commission and ended by Drh. Huda Salahudin Darusman, Head of Primate Animal Study Center at LPPM IPB and Lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) of IPB who delivered the material "Quality Animal Medicine for Breeders' Welfare."
