Tani Center IPB University is a new unit that was built to help farmers in solving agricultural problems in a broad sense. The IPB Farmer Center was established to bring farmers, breeders, fish farmers and other stakeholders closer together, so that information from IPB can be well connected and the benefits directly felt for the interests and welfare of the farmers as a whole. This was conveyed by the Rector of IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria while giving a speech at the National Seminar on Animal Husbandry in the Industrial Age 4.0 Towards the 3rd Sovereign Breeders and Congress of HILPI, at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor (11/1).

The Rector emphasized that the Farmers Center program was under the auspices of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of IPB University. “Technically, farmers, breeders, fishermen, capture fisheries and aquaculture can come to the IPB University Farmers’ Center to get information and free consultations to experts regarding the agricultural business that they are running,” he added.

In addition, responding to the concept of livestock in the era of industrial revolution 4.0, Dr. Arif said livestock 4.0 was a consequence of the presence of an industrial revolution that demanded all parties to adjust the development of livestock with technology.

“This seminar is very important in the framework of IPB to contribute to farmers and the community, because IPB has a vision to produce technosociopreneur,” he said.

In the seminar held by LPPM IPB University and the Indonesian Livestock Scientists Association (HILPI), it also discussed the role of the School of People’s Animal Husbandry (SPR) in training the community to have high ability in raising livestock. Chairperson of SPR LPPM IPB University and Chairperson of HILPI, Prof. Muladno said that the LPPM of IPB University wanted to transmit the concept of the IPB University SPR to other universities.

“SPR has been acknowledged by many parties that the SPR really benefits farmers. So if IPB University runs its own way to develop SPR, it’s not good. So that IPB wants to embrace all universities in Indonesia to work together to develop this IPB SPR to farmers in Indonesia, because there are now millions of farmers. So basically, IPB wants to spread the SPR concept well to all universities, “he said.

He added, farmers in the industrial revolution era 4.0 must be taught how to record their livestock properly. For this reason, the role of SPR is very helpful for farmers. They meet in one container, all managers are managed in a single data base, so that the data can be useful for the benefit of all. “So to be able to the era of industry 4.0, all existing breeders must be” in congregation “in the sense that the farmer must have one group of unified and intact entities, namely the SPR,” he said.
