New Structure of IPB to Serve Farmers, Farmers and Fishermen with Innovation
Rector of the IPB University, Dr. Arif Satria installed 84 new officials in the IPB. The inauguration was held at Graha Widya Wisuda Building, Dramaga Campus of IPB, Friday (1/2). In his remarks the Rector of IPB congratulated the newly appointed officials. The Rector of IPB explained in today’s inauguration was the consequence of a change in the new Governance and Work Procedure (SOTK) Organizational Structure. The Rector of IPB added that SOTK is a dynamic order and sees the developments that exist. The IPB Board of Trustees (MWA) has given a decision. Therefore, in some developments and considerations of professionalism, consideration of the proximity of functions, several positions, there are several bureaus and directorates must be exchanged.
The bureau that was exchanged for coordination included the General and Infrastructure Bureau which was previously under the coordination of the Institute Secretary, today is under the Vice Rector of Resources, Planning and Finance of IPB. This is to improve efficiency because there are functions in the financial sector, functions in the field of human resources and functions in the field of public works and infrastructure. In addition, the Rector of IPB added that the functions previously in the Institute for Research and Community Service were under the coordination of the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Information Systems. “This is in order to improve World University ranking. Not only that, IPB also made a new structure with a new function, namely the Agricultural Information Service Unit. A unit that has a strategic function that will be our face in the present and the future. That is where IPB’s role in contributing to the development of agriculture is increasingly realized, to be more intensively able to provide offline services as well as online,” said the IPB Rector.
According to the Rector of IPB, Tani Center can be a unit that must progressively use 4.0 technology to be able to provide excellent service to farmers. This role is a very strategic role as a manifestation of the presence of IPB in order to develop agriculture. Farmers Center is very important in providing information services to farmers, ranchers and fishermen. This is our part to continue to increase contributions to society as well as the nation. With the Tani Center, Bogor farmers, Indonesian farmers are increasingly enlightened by IPB innovations. Tani Center is also not merely a one way, input of innovations made by farmers so that they can also be disseminated in Indonesia. In addition, the role of artificial intelligence is also very important in this regard, so that services can be online. Minimizing the role of the expert. Vice-Rector for Resources, Planning and Finance of IPB, Prof. Agus Purwito said the new Organizational Structure and Governance had been approved by the MWA. “The goal is to increase organizational efficiency, improve organizational performance because the challenges ahead are very big,” said Prof. Agus.
In this inauguration, he revealed that there were several new units to strengthen the success of IPB on the external side. “We have become an innovation campus, how our innovation can be utilized by industry and the wider community. Not only that, internally how is the burden between vice-Rectors evenly distributed so that management becomes more efficient, performance will be faster,” continued Prof. Agus.
Furthermore, Prof. Agus said, there was also a change of officials due to entering retirement so that it must be replaced with qualified human resources, young people must emerge to replace those who retire, to improve organizational performance. “IPB continues to be guided as the best university in the world, management organizations within must also be strong, Information Technology (IT) and other facilities must be customer-oriented.
