Two related organizations of the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (IPB) namely the Marine Science and Technology Alumni Association (Haitek) and the Marine Science and Technology Student Association (Himiteka) collaborated to hold the Cross Force Citizenship Science and Technology Meeting (ITK) the one at the Bogor Botanical Gardens, (11/11). This activity aims to establish friendship between ITK residents from the first generation (class 23) to class 54.

The Chair of the Committee, Bagus Suryokusumo, said that this activity was started with a healthy morning walk around the Bogor Botanical Gardens, followed by interactive games sessions sharing life experiences after campus by alumni to ITK students. This activity was attended by 250 participants consisting of alumni, students, lecturers and ITK education staff.

The discussion session presented Dr. Krisna Samudra who is currently a second echelon official in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and Anisa Budiayu, M.Sc, Marine Program Manager, The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Both emphasize the importance of methodology in a study, whatever this includes research for undergraduate student thesis. This is related to the influence of the thesis title on job opportunities that were asked by students.

Also attending the Final Emperor, M.Sc ITK alumni who just won a master of science degree at World Maritime University, Sweden. According to him, the activities that bring together ITK students and alumni are very useful for sharing motivation, experience and insights for students to strengthen relationships and networking between alumni and fellow students.

"The hope is that ITK graduates will be more prepared, confident and understand the steps that will be taken after the campus to further study S2 or work in the marine field," he added. (NR)
