IPB Inaugurates 33 New Functional Staffs
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) inaugurated new functional positions at Tuesday (6/11) in IPB Dramaga Campus. There were 24 lecturers with functional position 'experts' and 9 education staffs (archivists).
IPB Rector, Dr. Arif Satria in his opening speech, congratulated the new lecturers and archivists, and hoped that these people will be able to help IPB to achieve IPB 4.0. "In the middle of these drastic changes and full of uncertainties, I hope lecturers and archivists can adapt with the change, even become the trendsetters of the change," said IPB Rector.
The rector also reminded the new lecturers about the importance of university tridharma. In education, lecturers' skills are very important to be improved. Not only skill in teaching, but also to inspire and motivate the students. "IPB lecturers have to be inspiring and motivating lecturers. Ordinary lecturers only teach what's written on textbook, while a good lecturer can explain them. Finally, a great lecturer is the one that can motivate the students," said the rector.
The rector hoped that the new lecturers can be the pioneer of the improvement of scientific papers, thus will improve IPB reputation. The rector also reminded that the innovation created should have real impact and benefit to society, industry, and government.
For the archivists, the rector said, "In the digital and big data era, archivists have to improve their professionalism, not only in handling and processing archives, but to think about future concept in archiving, using e-file and online documents, for instance."
Lastly, IPB Rector suggested that the newly inaugurated lecturers and archivists to be adaptable towards every change and to improve their capacity and not carrying on responsibility with 'business as usual' mentality. With that in mind, he believes that IPB will be even better in the future. "Forget the things that we don't have to carry on from the past, it's time to think about the future," he closed. (Ard)
