Dean of IPB Vocational School Becomes Key Speaker at ICVIAS

The Dean of Bogor Agricultural University Vocational School (IPB), Dr. Arief Daryanto revealed a strategy to improve the competitiveness of the poultry industry in Indonesia at an international conference entitled 'Strategies to Improve the Competitiveness of the Poultry Industry in Indonesia 1ST International Conference on Vocational Innovation and Applied Sciences (ICVIAS) on Wednesday (10/17) at Wyndham Hotels and Resort, Surabaya. The 1st International Conference on Vocational Innovation and Applied Sciences (ICVIAS) 2018 was organized by the Vocational Faculty of Airlangga University (Unair) with the theme "Sustainable Vocational Studies in Business, Engineering, and Health for the Global Advancement and Competitiveness of the Nation". Dr. Arief Daryanto was specifically invited as a keynote speaker as Chair of the FPTVI (Indonesian Vocational Higher Education Forum) and Dean of the Vocational School of IPB.

On this occasion, Dr. Arief conveyed several things related to the national poultry industry, namely related to the Strategic Roles of Poultry Industry strategy, trends and challenges in the poultry industry in Indonesia (Trends and Challenges of Poultry Industry in Indonesia), and strategies for the poultry industry (Strategies for the Poultry Industry).

Dr. Arief said that the poultry industry could become a poultry market that could grow rapidly in Indonesia even though its growth this year was slower than the previous year. . Prices of poultry meat are relatively lower compared to other meat prices. Marketing of better poultry meat, quality and consistency of availability is a lucrative market opportunity, "said Dr.Arief.

However, there are several challenges that must be faced in the poultry industry including: the existence of industrial globalization, scarcity of resources, animal welfare issues, global climate change, over supply conditions or price instability, import threats, higher feed prices, instability of quality feed supply, standards quality for farm management and higher feed prices.                  

According to Dr. Arief based on an analysis from Rabobank, the growth of the global poultry market in 2015-2025 showed growth in Asia. "The growth of Asian poultry is very strong, Asian countries which have strong poultry industry growth potential are the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Nigeria and Iran," explained Dr. Arief. (AVR)
