Witnessing the Beauty of Indonesia’s Culture through Gebyar Nusantara Carnival 2018
Diversity makes our country more beautiful. The cultural diversity between regions enriches Indonesia’s culture. This was seen in Gebyar Nusantara Carnival2018 that was themed “Anggana Raras Nusantara”, which meant Beautiful Nation.
This carnival was held by the Ministry of Cultural Arts of Student Executive Body – Student Family (BEM-KM) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). It was one of the series of Gebyar Nusantara (Genus) 2018 event. The carnival took place along Sudirman Street, starting from Jasindo Building to Center of Engineering Education of Ground Forces Indonesian Army (TNI AD) on Sunday (9/9). Fifteen Regional Student Organizations (Omda) enlivened this carnival. Each Omda introduced its own costume and showed its traditional arts. This activity captivated Bogor society’s attention that was crossing the street.

The carnival was opened symbolically by Vice Rector of Education and Student Affairs of IPB, Dr. Drajat Martianto. “IPB students come from more than 360 districts/cities in Indonesia, and each region has its Omda. Through this activity, every Omda can express their cultures. I think this is one exceptional example where differences can unite in one beautiful harmony,” said Dr. Drajat.
Beside this event, Gebyar Nusantara 2018 also consisted of a Flash Mob on Sunday, September 16, 2018, and a peak event which was held on September 30, 2018. (CN)
