As the saying "Looking for Knowledge Up to China", studying is not enough to be done in only one place, but knowledge can be obtained anywhere. This inspired the student from the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Felisha Laras Wihartati to take part in a student exchange in Japan, namely at Hokkaido University. According to Felisha, this was her biggest dream, in order to develop her abilities.

"At first, I got information that IPB opened a study exchange to Hokkaido. Finally I applied the program because I had the requirements available at that time," said Felisha.

For student exchange purpose, this seventh semester active student took a semester leave. Felisha is also one of the accelerated students in the Department of Communication Science and Community Development, Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB. Actually Felisha was able to complete her study at IPB in 3.5 years. However, Felisha released her acceleration at IPB and chose to postpone one semester. "Yes, I released the acceleration program because the opportunity to Japan may not come twice, thus, as long as there is a golden opportunity, I will take it," she added.

Not only that, while in Japan, Felisha also received a scholarship from JASSO. The scholarship helped her finance for living needs in Japan. Felisha got a scholarship of 80,000 yen which was used to pay the tuition fees, dormitory fees and daily necessities. Since the living cost in Japan is quite high, scholarships are needed by students, especially exchanged students, to help fulfilling their needs there.

The student exchange program taken by Felisha included seven courses where the average Semester Credit Unit (SKS) was two. She took several courses related to her current study program. The credits will be transferred from Hokkaido University to IPB, so there is no need to repeat the courses taken during the semester left at IPB.

"We are still trying and continuing to coordinate with the lecturers so that the courses' SKS there can be transferred to IPB," said Felisha. The study started in October 2018 until February 2019. Felisha left Indonesia on 17 September 2018 and will return home in March 2019. (GW/ris/ZSP)
