In Means of Strengthening External Relationship, IPB Signs an MoU with Two Universities
Known as a university based on innovation and research, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) has always made innovations in implementing the tri darma of higher education which consists of research, teaching and devotion towards the community. Being the most upfront and pioneers of various programs which are performed nationwide, IPB has drawn attention towards many other higher education institutions to study the same thing, including Buana Perjuangan University in Karawang, West Java and Muhadi Setiabudi University in Brebes, Central Java.
The Directorate of Collaboration and Alumni Relations IPB facilitated the signatory understanding paper between IPB and the other two universities. It was held in the Sidang Rektor Room, of Andi Hakim Nasution Building IPB Dramaga Campus, Tuesday (28/8), the signatory of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was attended by the Vice Rector of Educational and Students Division IPB, Dr. Drajat Martianto and representatives from the two other universities.
IPB Rector, Dr. Arif Satria greeted the partnership with Buana Perjuangan University and Muhadi Setiabudi University done by IPB with open arms. “IPB has always strived to increase networking and partnerships with various parties. By sharing we can both strengthen our networks and progress together.” Buana Perjuangan University welcomed IPB’s willingness for a partnership, as one of the high ranked universities both nationally and internationally, IPB is seen capable in guiding the new universities to become better in managing their task in implementing the tri darma of higher education in the field research.
“We have already had partnerships with IPB before, such as having a few of our lecturers take part of a training program from PPSDM LPPM IPB. Our closest program after the signatory of the MoU is the invitation for the experts from IPB specifically those related to the grant research of Kemenristekdikti. We also would like to send our lecturers to take part of the workshops or seminars and invite IPB lecturers to visit Karawang,” said the Rector of Buana Perjuangan University, Karawang, Dr. H. Dedi Mulyadi.
He also hopes that in the future, universities which are currently lead by him can learn more and create vast partnerships such as joint researches by the lecturers, increasing interest amongst students towards the Student Creativity Program (PKM) and also deep knowledge on quality and internal audit management.
The Rector of Muhadi Setiabudi University, Dr. Roby Setiadi, stated something similar to this. He stated that IPB is an excellent choice of being an example in the community devotion division such as in Student Study Service Program (KKN). Other than that, he appealed for IPB to be more active in the improvement of the quality of the community in Brebes by working together with Muhadi Setiabudi University.
“Brebes is famous for our bountiful production of onions. We have worked together with the Local Brebes Government and they are very supportive of this. Therefore, we must learn many things from the university which is an expert in the agricultural field and we feel that IPB is the correct choice,” he explained.
IPB is the first university in West Java that has been targeted as a capable campus partner for the campus from Brebes. Dr. Roby hopes that this partnership which involves IPB and Muhadi Setiabudi University can create something beneficial to the community especially for those of the Brebes area. “If students of Brebes are provided with innovation and creativity, such resources in the community can be optimalized,” he said as a closing statement.
