IPB Launches Free Ready-to-Drink Water Facility
There was good news for Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) students. On 4 April 2018, IPB inaugurated clean drinking water facilities which are free of charge. In addition, on this occasion there was also a launching of an electronic money-based payment innovation for buyers in Sapta Canteen, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta), IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor. Both facilities are the result of cooperation between Fateta of IPB and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI).
The location of clean drinking water is on the 1st and 2nd floors of Fateta Building. Clean drinking water uses sensor technology to come out the water automatically when the tumbler bottle approaches the water tap. In addition, the water provided originates from the processed water of IPB itself.
Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs of IPB, Dr. Ir. Drajat Martianto, inaugurated the facility in the 2nd floor of Fateta Corridor. In his speech, Dr. Drajat said that the facility is very good in supporting the improvement of student nutrition because the literature on nutrition mentioned that if a person lacks fluids then the person is considered malnourished.
"I hope there will be no more dehydrated IPB students. We hope BNI can provide similar facilities in every faculty and school in IPB," he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of Fateta of IPB, Prof. Dr. Kudang Boro Seminar, said that the facility is built to succeed the Green Campus 2020.
"We at Fateta are trying to minimize the use of plastics. During the trial week, the consumption of clean drinking water by users reached 3200 litres. If it is converted to 600 ml plastic bottles, we have saved the use of 5,200 plastic bottles per week," he said.
"Hopefully this brings blessing because we provide drinking water to the claimant of science," he said.
Vice Dean for Resources, Cooperation and Development of Fateta of IPB, Prof. Dr. Slamet Budijanto, explained, "IPB water is filtered using filter of 0.5 microns, 0.3 microns and 0.1 microns, respectively, to be accommodated as raw water. Then the water is filtered with carbon filtering to remove odour, after that, is filtered by 0.3 microns and 0.1 microns filters. The water goes to ultrafiltration (UF) and ultraviolet (UV) lamps to kill microbes. Then, it is distributed to the 2nd and 1st floors. Before being used, water has been analysed 3 times and the results are in accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Every month the water is sampled for analysis to ensure that the water is worth drinking."
In addition to clean drinking water facilities, Fateta and BNI also launched Your All Payment (YAP). It is a technology pin application issued by BNI. Sources of funds can be from BNI ATMs, credit cards or electronic money. It is identical with top up, but it is not used top up.
For usage, we must download YAP application first. All tenants in Sapta Canteen already have BNI YAP Barcode.
"This is our response to the disruption era. We introduce the latest product that facilitates the society to no longer carry a lot of cash. BNI is the first bank to have a license in providing platform using mobile phone. We can buy various needs at stalls by only using the mobile phone," said Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP), Director of BNI Human Capital, Alex Denni. (TK)
