P2SDM of LPPM IPB Developed Village Campus in Situ Gede Village
Center for Human Resources Development (P2SDM) of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM) again organized Village Campus, on 9 March 2018. The topic of the 20th Village Campus was "Budidaya Jahe Merah Red Ginger Cultivation". The special event was carried out at Pos Pemberdayaan Keluarga (Posdaya Empowerment of Family Post) Sahaja, Kampung Cilubang Lebak, Rt.03 / 01, Situ Gede Village, Bogor.
The Village Campus Coordinator, Ir. Yannefri Bachtiar, M.Si, said that the Village Campus is an implementation of the community empowerment program funded independently by synergizing the potential of IPB, community, Posdaya cadres, local government, private parties, and foundations / NGOs. "So the Village Campus is to disseminate the innovations in IPB to the community," he said.
Yannefri expected that the Village Campus will transfer or disseminate all kinds of information on technology and innovation to the community. "Regular lectures which are officially attended by students on campus, now they can be enjoyed by the community at large in the village," he explained.
He added that the Village Campus program will continue be rolled out to Posdaya in each village and in the Bogor city. He hopes every month volunteers for community empowerment determine the place of implementation in each district with Village Campus program. Through the campus of this village, people can gain knowledge and technology in agriculture, economy, education, health and environment.
Resource persons invited for the current Village Campus was the Head of Extension Services of Bogor, Ir. Dian Hermawan, who explained how to cultivate red ginger. He appealed to all people to use their home yard by planting red ginger as a medicinal plant. "Medicinal plants grown in your own gardens can reduce your dependence on drugs, if not completely eliminate them. So if the family needs the medicine can take it directly. It’s not necessary to buy from the outside," he said.
Furthermore, Yannefri said, the Village Campus activities are also supported by Student Executive Student Board (BEM KM) IPB. BEM KM IPB in cooperation with the community will assist the community to prepare the Village Campus event in the field. Other guest present in the current Village Campus among other were 15 students from SUIJI program from Japan, and students IPB as well, Posdaya of city and Regency of Bogor, and representatives Damandiri Foundation.
