Their writing in the competition was titled "Sustainable Fisheries Cultivation Using Sylvo Fishery-based Cage Floating System (KJA) ". "The background of our work is the fact that the fishermen catch seasonal fish. If you are lucky, then the catch is a lot. Conversely, if you are not lucky, then little catch you will get or even returning home with empty hands. Cage System is a fish farming technique commonly applied in lakes. Then Cage Floating System is applied in the Utilization Zone of Mangrove Forest. This system is called Sylvo Fishery. So, the principle of sustainable fish cultivation can be realized," he explained.
Vara said that the paper aimed to optimize the function of mangrove areas and improve the living standards of coastal communities. In addition, they also hope that this work can be applied, of course with the support from the government and relevant stakeholders, so the economy of coastal communities can be better. (TK)
