The Sharia Investment Gallery in the Department of Management has been inaugurated in November 2017 by BEI. The inauguration of the board was conducted by Reza Sadat Shahmeini, SE, MM, as Head of Representative Office of BEI West Java and attended by MNC Securities and faculty members of the FEM IPB.
Chairman of the Department of Management of FEM IPB, Dr. Mukhamad Najib, said that the Finance Club will play its strategic role in changing the mindset of the students in particular and the university communities of IPB in general on investment.
Many new investors don't understand that saving money and investing money are entirely different things. According to him, so far people prefer to save their money rather than invest, whereas resources should include the treasures do not settle in one place but must spin in the community so that its benefits can be more spread. Saving money is the process of putting cold, hard cash aside and parking it in extremely safe, and liquid (meaning they can be sold or accessed in a very short amount of time, at most a few days) securities of accounts. While Investing – is taking some of our money and trying to make it grow by buying things you think will increase in value.
"In Islam, the saved property will be exhausted by zakat, or money saved for any purpose is accumulated money, and all accumulated money must have zakat paid on it! However, the assets invested will grow and develop and more importantly the resources invested will provide greater benefits and added value to the community because it can drive the wheels of the economy, "he explained.
On this occasion Najib also stated that the establishment of Sharia Investment Gallery in the Department of Management is to educate campus communities IPB to become investors, become the owners of companies directly by buying shares of companies that have been listing on the stock. Shares provide you with part-ownership of a company so when you invest in shares; you are buying 'a share' of that business.
"I hope the activity in this gallery can change the pattern of student thought. So far they think after graduation to work in what company? The Sharia Investment Gallery is a facility that people can use to help them know more about capital market thus get better comprehension theoretically. It also gives opportunity to society to do simulation of real-time investment transactions. With education to be this investor, I hope they will have better decision to invest and their monies trying to make it grow by buying things you think will increase in value?, "said Najib.
The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Shariah Investment Gallery, Rindang Matoati, stated that this Gallery is not only for FEM IPB students, but also open to all campus communities of IPB. Rindang said, every student and faculty member can open an account to to trade stock in this gallery. But we can utilize the online transaction via our respective gadgets because there is already an application, so do not have to come to the gallery for transactions only.
Meanwhile, Head of Finance and Accounting Division, of the Department of Management, Dr. Budi Purwanto, who supervises the Sharia Investment Gallery, said the activities in this Gallery will not only accept the opening of accounts to buy shares listed in the capital market, but it will be more dominant in the educational element of how to train them to become an investor. Therefore, this year we will organize a regular capital market school that can be patticipated by all communities of IPB campus.
Budi also hopes that the financial literacy is not only important for the academic community, but also the villagers around the campus environment. "It would be better if the villagers could buy shares, rather than spending their money for non-productive activities," added Budi.
This follow-up action of the inauguration will be the first batch of capital market training course. This full-day training will be carried out directly by Sutrisna Amijaya, the syariah capital market analyst from MNC Securities. (Wied)
