In order to continuously improve the service quality, the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) re-certified ISO 9001. Previously, FEMIPB received ISO 9001: 2008 certificate, and is now renewed to ISO 9001: 2015.

Dean of FEM IPB, Prof. Dr. Yusman Syaukat said there are some differences between ISO 9001: 2008 and 2015, among others, the latest ISO 9001 must include risk identification and its control, while not for 2008. He also said that the ISO 9001 certification is very important, not just to get the certificate, but how ISO 9001 can encourage the academicians at FEM to commit in upholding the culture of targetting good quality so that FEM IPB could produce good quality alumni.

One of the departments audited in FEM IPB today (Monday, 18/12) at the IPB campus of Dramaga, Bogor, is the Department of Management. "We always try to keep our commitment to improve the quality of our education process by maintaining ISO 9001 certification. With ISO 9001, we try to implement self-discipline in terms of planning and implementation. Since the important principle in quality management is to write what will be implemented and implement what has been written, "said Chairman of the Department of Management, Dr. Mukhamad Najib.

According to him, this is in line with the Quality Policy of the Department of Management itself, namely "With a high commitment to quality, Department of Management of FEM IPBwill consistently and accountably produce graduates who are competent in the field of management to support the development of tropical agriculture."

For the Department of Management, according to Najib, ISO 9001 certification is very important, because it is considered can provide at least three benefits, namely to provide assurance on the quality of the learning process and academic services; improve the satisfaction of stakeholders both students, employers and staff in the Department of Management itself; and improve organizational productivity.

"In ISO 9001, we lead by system. We are forced by the system to improve the quality of service together. So it is not a leader, who forces staff to provide excellent service quality, but rather a system based on the quality policy and quality objectives established by all civitas in the Department of Management, "said Najib.

In this certification process, FEM IPB invites PT Sucofindo who is competent to do so. After submitted all quality documents to Sucofindo last month, today Sucofindo send the auditors to check the suitability between what is written with what is done in FEM IPB. Before the auditor from Sucofindo came to audit the academic service process at FEM IPB, all service processes were previously audited by an internal auditor consisted of 20 auditors who reviewed and audited the academic service process in each department within FEMIPB.

Department of Management, according to the Dean of FEM Prof. Yusman, similar with the Department of Agribusiness and Economics, has achieved regional accreditation, ASEAN University Networks Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). For national accreditation, Department of Management has achieved A value in its re-accreditation process, and a few months ago it has also received AUN-QA accreditation for ASEAN level. "Now with the certification of ISO 9001: 2015 hopefully the learning process will increase continuously, because BAN-PT, AUN-QA and ISO 9001; 2015 accreditation are interrelated in strengthening the quality culture in FEM IPB," Prof. Yusman explained. *** (TK)
