Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) again produced and presented  its current 1.241  graduates in the Open Session for the Graduation Day of the Diploma Program of IPB Phase II Academic Year 2016/2017, on Tuesday-Wednesday, 7-8 November 2017, at Grha Widya Wisuda (GWW), Dramaga Campus, Bogor.

At this graduation ceremony, IPB awarded diplomas to 1,241 graduates from various Program Keahlian (PK Subject Specialty) that include Informatics Management, Ecotourism, Communication, Computer Engineering, Seed Industry Technology, Industrial Management, Agribusiness Management, Chemical Analysis, Production Technology and Community Development, Supervisor of Food Quality Assurance, Technology and Production Management of Plantation, Accounting, Oil Palm Plantation, Production Technology and Management of Aquaculture, as well as Diploma II Program, namely Education Outside Domicile (PDD) from Yapen Regency, Papua Province; Lembata District, East Nusa Tenggara Province; Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi Province; and from Aceh Tamiang District, Aceh Province Nanggroe Darussalam.

The first day of the Graduation Day was officially opened and led by the Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto. While in the 2nd day, the Graduation was  led by Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs IPB, Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono. On behalf of the entire academic community of IPB, the rector congratulated the graduates for the successful completion of education.

In his remarks Rector stressed that in the future IPB will develop its science with transdisciplinary approach in presenting the solution. Furthermore, in order to enlarge its role significantly, IPB needs to strengthen the relevance of the application of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi as agent for economic development by developing innovation and business.

IPB has developed various patterns of entrepreneurship programs, both to students and alumni so that they can run their businesses independently, and even absorb the workforce. This pattern of entrepreneurship has been carried out in various academic and non-academic programs. For example, entrepreneurship programs for students are offered in the form of initial capital. Such programs include the Entrepreneurial Student Program (PMW), the Young Entrepreneurship Farm Program (PWMP). In addition, IPB also has built a young entrepreneurship printing system in the form of Teaching Farm called Student Entrepreneur Learning Facility (Sabisa) Farm.

It was reported that the Directorate of the Diploma Program (DPD) of IPB was appointed to  host at the 4th Congress of Vocational Higher Education Forum (FPTVI), 1st International Conference on Applied Science for Food and Energy Sovereignty, and Indonesia Vocational Education Week 2017,  held at IPB International Convention Center (IICC) on 11 October 2017. This congress emphasizes the need for competency certification that must be possessed by graduates of vocational programs, to be qualified as  professional workers in accordance with their respective fields is not inferior to foreign resources. In addition, the certificate of competence becomes the control of the needs of the world of work in accordance with the expertise and the applicable curriculum.

On this occasion, the Rector expressed his gratitude for the presence of the Regent of Yapen Regency, Papua along with the Vice Regent and Chairman of the DPRD; Vice Regent of Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province Nanggroe Darussalam; Chairman of DPRD, Vice Regent of Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province and Head of DPRD; and Vice Regent of Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi Province.

"I really hope that the alumni of IPB can continue to improve and develop the existing cooperation for the advancement of the alma mater. The present graduation has added the total number of DPD IPB graduates into 148,143 alumni. I encourage to all graduates to join the IPB Alumni Association, for its strong and compact growth with the spirit of One Heart One IPB. (Wied)
