Minister of Employment of RI, Hanif Dahiri, mentioned that 60 percent of the human resources (HR) of Indonesia was the graduates of Sekolah Dasar / Primary School (SD) and Sekolah Menengah Pertama / Junior High School (SMP). Other than that, he conveyed the existence of the non-conformity of the needs of human resources, over supply, and no competence. The Minister conveyed that it was in the keynote speech themed “Peningkatan Daya Saing Global Perguruan Tinggi di Indonesia / Increasing Global Competitiveness of Universities in Indonesia” in the event of Indonesia Career Center Summit in IPB International Convention Center (IICC) Bogor (12/8).

“It is still a big challenge to make HR as a mainstay in the development. Though one of the main barometer of the developed country is its human resources,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) conveyed that IPB would continue to carry out various activities to improve the competitiveness of the human resources in order to compete with the foreign experts. Through the Indonesia Career Center Network (ICCN), it was expected that the existing experts could compete, be competent and be qualified. ICCN was expected that it could also be a means of meeting all stakeholders related to the human resources in Indonesia to become a forum or means of sharing knowledge, experience, consultation, and finding solution to the problems in managing and strengthening the role of the career center in universities. The Rector appreciated the formation of this association. To that end, the Rector proposed that in this association it had the human resources requirement scenario.

President of ICCN, Dr. Bambang Setiabudi conveyed that ICCN was the association of the career center of universities across Indonesia which had been agreed upon since the second pre-summit by 36 career centers that were present at the time. In the year of 2017 also, the association had done a program of strengthening the career centers in various areas in Indonesia.(dh)
