Fiber Cracking Technology is a new breakthrough in the world of animal feed. This innovation can reduce the high fiber content (lignocellulose fraction) in the feed of agricultural and plantation wastes significantly in a very short time with processing time approximately 2-3 hours. Fiber Cracking Technology had been developed in order to support sustainable development and zero waste program.

This technology is being developed by Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in collaboration with LIPI Biotechnology and Center for Livestock Research and Development through the National Agricultural Research and Development Partnership (KKP3N) program. One of the students who care about Fiber Cracking Technology research is Sari Putri Dewi, a young doctoral candidate from the Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology of Faculty of Animal Husbandry of Bogor Agricultural University (FAPET IPB).

She implemented her dissertation research on Fiber Cracking Technology under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Ridla, Dr. Anuraga Jayanegara, and Prof. Dr. Erika Budiarti Laconi, the senior researcher in such discipline. The result of Sari’ research project is  predicted to be completed early next year. This Fiber Cracking Technology innovation for agricultural wastes will be very useful for the Indonesian farmers as such innovation will facilitate their  needs for animal feeds.

After graduating from the Department of Nutrition Science and Feed Technology of FAPET IPB, as she was one of the outstanding students then she was granted a Fast Track scholarship (acceleration / acceleration) for her to pursue her Master Degree Program (S2). She has completed her Fast Track Master Degree Program within just 16 months, and she graduated Cumlaude with master degree.

Under the guidance of her supervisors of IPB, Sari who is now  25 years,  has published her research results in both national and international journals, namely on Nutrient Content, Protein Fractionation and Utilization of Some Beans as Soybean Alternatives for Ruminant Feeding – Livestock Media 2016; Effect of Cell-wall Nitrogen Proportion on Protein Utilization by Ruminant Livestock: A Meta-Analysis of Across Different Experiments – International Conference on Sustainable Development, Bali, 2015; and Determination of Cell Wall Protein from Selected Feedstuffs and Its Relationship with Ruminal Protein Digestibility In Vitro – Livestock Media 2015.

In addition to have made achievements in the academic field, during her study at IPB  she had been active in student activities, including the Animal Feed Nutrition Students Association. She even winner for art performances of IPB Art Contest, with her team she won the 3rd winner for Percussion IPB, D'Ransum of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB.

During pursuing her doctoral degree program (S3) on Nutrition and Feed of FAPET  IPB, she was granted excellent scholarship Beasiswa Unggulan Masyarakat (Achievement Community Scholarship) administered by Kemendikbud RI. Her interest to start her professional career in the world of academia has spurred her interest to be graduated of her doctoral degree program at a young age. She also has suspended some companies that very much in need of her expertise. (Wied)
