One of the agenda of PAC was to meet the invitation from the Netherland to make an exposure visit to the livestock logistic sector institution and the international education institution, so that it was able to arrange the standard of the educational program of the livestock logistic in Indonesia. The Netherland was a good example in the practice of the livestock logistic management and had the world-class university with the complete and adequate facilities. This activity was conducted on 08 to 12 May 2017 in the Netherland, among others the visit to NVWA Utrecht, Cattle and Logistic the Netherland, STC Education and Training in Transport and Logistics-Rotterdam, Wageningen UR, and others.

Another important point was also explained by Prof. Senator that the hygiene was a priority in the livestock logistic process in the Netherland, this became an important learning from the livestock logistic in Indonesia. “In the practice of the livestock logistic in the Netherland, each livestock is monitored on a day-to-day basis through an IT facility”, explained Prof. Senator. He also explained that the livestock logistic activity in the Netherland ran partially, but it could be managed well because of the very high trust between the stakeholders.

The Teams of PAC and ALIN also gained the knowledge about the animal welfare delivered by EonA (Eyes on Animals). The institution of NGO, EonA, submitted the material on the animal welfare improvement during the transportation, discussing the issues that often occurred and the best practices applied in Europe. Other than that, also discussing the problems that occurred in Indonesia especially the techniques used to transport the animal from the ship that did not care about the animal welfare.  “There is the experience of the livestock production and trading company in Europe, the company’s investment in the animal welfare result in a positive impact on the company’s financial return,” explained Lesley Moffat as the founder and the coordinator of EoNa when delivering the lecture in front of the teams of PAC and ALIN on the date of 09 May 2017 in Harderwijk (NL).
