Pempek Yummy? Used the Ready To Use Flour Made by IPB
Fond of fish program (Gemari) which had been encouraged by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Republic of Indonesia, should be supported by diversifying the processed food of fish, as well as the promotion and the education about the nutritional content of fish.
One of the best fish-based products which was feasible to develop was pempek. The food product was the traditional food from Palembang, which was made from the chopped or minced fish meat, the flour and the spices then it was boiled. The fish used in the form of the fish mackerel, the cork, and the belida. How to make the pempek was actually easy, but there were several factors that made the processing of the pempek become difficult. The factors included the time constraint due to the busy work, the originality (authenticity) of the pempek, the reduced taste or the quickly broken delivery time, and there was the instant of the pempek, but often the desired results were not good or hard.
According to Olivia, “with the opportunity we offer the solution in the form of of the presence of the flour of the Pempek Hijaber (hygienic, affordable, colorful) which is ready to be processed and can be used easily to get a delicious pempek,” she said. Olivia WP who was the team of the Student Creativity Program on the Entrepreneurship (PKM-K), Bogor Agricultural Univesity (IPB), together with Dinie S, Axel N, Nouval H and Masagus HT. They made “Tepung Pempek Hijaber sebagai Solusi Peningkatan Daya Konsumsi Ikan pada Masyarakat / Pempek Hijaber Flour as the Solution to Increase the Fish Consumption Power in the Community”. The pempek hijaber flour was the latest innovation product as the combination of the ready-made pempek flour with the variation of taste. The food coloring used came from the pasta made from the vegetable juices and the fruits that were smoothed.
“The products we make in the form of the flour are ready to be processed into the pempek by brewed and added a little egg. The pempek flour we offer has the natural dye powder derived from the vegetables and the fruits as the unique innovation of this product,” said Olivia, the student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of IPB.
The products they made would be marketed to the students, the lecturers, and the general community with the price of Rp. 60 thousand per pack. Olivia said “We plan to market the products through the social media for the students and the lecturers, while for the general community we offer directly.” Through this product, they hoped that the flour of the pempek hijaber could be known more widely and consumed by the general community.
