“SO IMUT”, The First Seaweed Sausage in Indonesia
The Student Creativity Program (PKM) team of Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) creates So Imut sausage, a sausage enriched with seaweed. They are M. Habibur Rohman, Desta Elpina, Arief Wardana Herlambang, Fajriansyah Hendra Pratama, Miftah Rizky Islamoriza from the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB.
"So Imut" is a product that utilizes seaweed (Sargassum sp) as its main stuff. This innovation was funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemeristekdikti) RI in the Student Creativity Week (PKM) in the field of Entrepreneurship in 2017.
"So Imut" can be a superior product that can be consumed by people from children to adults. Seaweed sausage products are not yet on the market, its market opportunity is still wide," said Habibur Rohman, as chairman.
Further, Obi, so called as a friendly name, said that the main goal of making "So Imut" is to make it as healthy snack because it is processed without preservative and without MSG, so it is more secure and healthy, added with seaweed in it.
As we know, seaweed (Sargassum sp) contains protein, carbohydrates and crude fiber. These substances are very good for everyday consumption because it has an important function and role to maintain and regulate the human body metabolism.
"We believe" So Imut "is able to compete with other sausage products because it has advantages that are not found in other sausages. "So Imut" is packed to contain 6 pcs. Since the beginning of production, the seaweed sausage "So Imut" has sold 252 pcs," he said. (Mtd)
