Local Committee 33 of Bogor Sets up 640 Seats for Computer-Based Joint Test of Entrance to State Universities
Local Committee (Panlok) 33 of Bogor for the Joint Selection of Admission to State Universities (SBMPTN) in 2017 is preparing 640 seats for the Computer Based Test. This year, Bogor committee will hold SBMPTN in five sub-sectors located in Bogor: Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Cianjur, Bekasi, Karawang and Cirebon. These five sub-committees will carry out a written examination of Paper Based Testing method (PBT), while the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) will be held only in Bogor and Karawang.
"The capacity of CBT participants in the Local Committee of Bogor increases this year. There are 640 seats divided into 600 participants in the sub-local committees of Bogor and 40 participants the in Sub-local committee of Karawang. CBT in Bogor City will be held in Dramaga Campus of IPB, Gunung Gede (IPB Business School), and Cilibende Campus (Diploma Program of IPB)," said Chairman of Local Committee 33 of Bogor, Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono accompanied by Public Relations of the Committee, Dr.drh. Fadjar Satrija at Media Center, Darmaga Campus of IPB.
Registration has started since 11 April and will end May 5, 2017. The test will be held on May 16, 2017. The number of SBMPTN participants (PBT and CBT) in the Local Committee 33 of Bogor up to April 24, 2017 is 7,859 people. There are 3,457 participants in the field of science and technology, 3,396 participants in social or humanity sciences and 1006 participants in mixed fields of science. In 2016 the number of SBMPTN participants was 37,603.
"We estimate the number of applicants this year to increase due to the reduction of SNMPTN applicant quotas based on school accreditation. Last year schools with A accreditation got a quota of 75%, while this year the quota drops to 50%," he explained.
According to him, this year there are some differences in SBMPTN, for example, the central committee sets up the minimum quota of 30% for each State University (PTN). It is expected the number of the National CBT participants this year will rise to 20 thousand. Last year there were only 2500 participants. And SNMPTN committee has joined SBMPTN.
As for the capacity in IPB, Prof. Yonny said the number of new students to be admitted through all IPB's entry points (SNMPTN, SBMPTN, BUD, PIN and UTMI) is 3,900 students. This is related to IPB's dormitory capacity.
"All new students of IPB must stay in the dormitory. Therefore, the capacity of IPB is adjusted to the dormitory's (3,400 people). Currently the applicants of National Selection of State University Entrance (SNMPTN) to IPB are 16,193 in number. Through this selection, 55% -60% of IPB's capacity are accepted. As For the SBMPTN, IPB sets a quota of 30% of its capacity," he said. (Mtd)
